I'm good with whatever makes them happy with themselves. There are certainly other traits in people that I dislike with a passion.

    People look different.

People choose whether to look more different, some temporarily, some permanently.

Some people age more than others. Some people gain weight. Some choose a religion. Some don't. Some people like football. Some people prefer cricket. Some people watch rugby, and some don't like sport at all.

Some people don't eat meat, some only eat processed food.

I could list hundreds of things, things that are different about every person. But despite all of those things, there are more things that make people the same than things that make them different.

Do I want a tattoo, no. Do I feel I have a right to tell someone they shouldn't have one, no. Do I feel I have to hate people who are different to me, absolutely not.

Personally, I prefer a world of difference, diversity, uniqueness. Rich in colour, culture and indiviiduality. Sadly I feel in more of a minority than I did a year ago.

Massive minority. Somewhere in the region of around 22% I imagine

I'm not a big fan myself but each to their own. I just think you wouldn't decorate your house with one wallpaper and have that for the rest of your life. I just don't see why you'd want to carry the same picture on your body.

I can see that some may be sentimental though. Just not for me. I think sleeve tattoos have become a real cliché now though.

Worse for me though are those ear rings which stretch the ear lobe? Why? Are you in some kind of African tribe? Again. Each to their own... until they go to the doctors expecting the NHS to stitch up.their self mutilation.

hmm. now there's a slippery slope. treatment for smokers with lung cancer? rehab for substance abusers? treatment for aids carriers who shared a needle or had unprotected sex? gastric bands for people who constantly eat $hit? plastercast for a kid who jumped from a tree and broke his leg?

there's a very long list of self-inflicted things that we expect the NHS to fix

No, but I was reminiscing about my Trainspottingesque "Choose Barnsley" piece that I think made its way into Better Red Than Dead back in the day. Was either that or "The Willard Appreciation Team" after the 3-3 draw with Liverpool. Can't recall which.

Tattoo I do like, and would have had myself if I'd thought of it first because it's one of my favourite films:

I agree it is not manageable. Still think there's a huge difference between a half arsed attempt at being trendy and a genuine illness like alcoholism / addiction though. Put it this way. If either of my kids came home with it I'd be telling them they should be forking out for the correction procedure themselves.
