Likely to get abuse for this because Davies kept a clean sheet last game but don't really care anymore.

Dean Henderson. Currently on loan at impressive Shrewsbury.

But I think we could get him. They will be able to call him back in January and he's by all reports a good goalkeeper. Maybe we could even buy him, cheap with a decent sell on for them with a buyback so if he gets mega good they will get some reward or get him back.

England u20, think he's been in the u21 squad before too.

As cover for Davies to give him a bit of competition?

We’ve got to do something because Davies development has seriously stalled.

He doesn’t understand distribution and that isn’t good enough for a championship goalkeeper.

When I go back to his first few friendly games where he literally couldn’t kick the ball he’s improved massively but I’m afraid that progression line has now flatlined.

Just being a good shot stopper should only get you as far as League One these days and you definitely shouldn’t be in the Championship and unchallenged for your position.

If any of the outfield players had directly cost us 5-10 goals this season they’d be getting the Mallan treatment.

I like Davies and on the whole he has been a very good keeper but his none command of the box and lack of understanding at when to distribute and the execution of distribution is holding him back.

I've heard from someone who works at the club that we've been in touch with a certain former keeper who is at a club managed by a former manager of ours. He's interested!

The fullbacks have to take some responsibility for Davies' distribution. If they don't make themselves available, he has one option - to kick long to a small striker or to the wings.
Yesterday, he was looking for Fryers who just trudged away.
I coach my U 18s to walk away, but to come back for the ball once the opposition has retreated. It's simple stuff. The defenders and midfielders need to be more available otherwise Davies has no option.

Only Butland of former Goalkeepers are good enough.

Loads of names though. Wonder if we could get Nice to do us a good un and recall Mouez Hassen and send him to us.

Fired he's far too slow with the short stuff. Fryers wasn't happy at all and so weren't some fans around me.

Seriously they’re available A LOT and he simply refuses or cannot see them to throw the ball out.

The centre mids often come short for it and the wingers and available. When he tries to do it he often kicks/ it out for a throw in which is probably why he shys away for it.

Also it’s nothing to do with the fullbacks walking away and coming back for it as I’m talking about quick break aways which he prevents us doing. I think he tried once yesterday to release Isgrove with a long throw and it went straight out for a throw.

A couple of times he was slow, I agree, however Fryers on several occasions turned his back on the option. Left Davies no other option. Would have been easy to check back and get the ball (like Yiadom did a couple of times) . It's simple full back play, but you find fault with one and not the other. Davies is a good keeper for what we can afford. Butland has long gone. Comparisons are just pointless.

I was going to mention this, second half Fryers had a right go at Davies for refusing to throw the ball out to him for the quick break.

It’s not about checking back fired.

It’s counter attack’s to give us attacking opportunities.

Think Yiadom comes back sometimes, but Fryers just trudges off disinterested. See my post yesterday about throw ins though. Alot of players not making themselves available. Fact is Davies played in a team that passed out from the back with huge success. He knows how to do it. I'd agree he's being slow on some occasions, but when players aren't showing for the ball.he has limited options.

Totally agree! Impossible if the left back is half way up the pitch and doesn't want the ball. We need to go back to fullbacks and midfielders WANTING the ball.

You’re not grasping I’m not talking about playing out from the back. That is easy for any goalkeeper from conference to do if the team wants to.

I’m talking about claiming the ball and having it released in 2-3 seconds with an accurate kick/throw.

That was a comment about former goalkeepers. Can't think of any of the former ones I think are good enough. There are plenty of goalkeepers around that are better that we coul get though in my opinion Fired.

Hendersons the best I could think of as a permanent option possibly.

If the club want to get a loan option goalkeeper then there's a possible number available. Muric, the Arsenal goalkeepers I mentioned a while ago then options in France/ Europe.

You're not grasping that he can't release it to a player who has turned his back.

Fryers never wants the ball off Davies for a counter. There was one instance against Preston where Fryers could’ve ran into space for Davies to throw but just jogged to the left a bit. Annoyed the hell out of me.

Regarding Davies, all of our players have their limitations (that’s why they’re here) but Davies is one of our better players and yes, he’s let a few soft goals in costing us but I can guarantee he’s saved us more points this season than he’s lost us.

Pretty sure I saw a stat the other day saying he’s had 45 clean sheets in 150 games. Not bad that considering all the stick he gets.
