Toney - 16 Armstrong - 16 Joao - 15 Campbell - 11 Moore - 9 Solanke - 9 Ayew - 9 Woodrow - 8 Pukki - 8 Olise - 8 -- He's in some pretty good company there.
2 ex loanees at the top who got far more stick than they deserved. both have developed into excellent strikers
And Woodrow got similar stick at Bristol City, at a similar stage of his career. Hopefully we can be patient with whichever of the current crop of young strikers the club decides to invest more time in.
5 penalties in among 6 goals. 2 assists. It’s not a stat I would brag about. tbf. 1 goal in open play. (a mis hit one at that) His shooting boots need changing. In open play at the mo. I’m Pretty sure he’s not happy with his return, Far from it. I hope he comes good satdy. Pleeeeeeeease.
Why not ? Penalties have to be scored & like last night for example , having put the ball in the net for a goal what should have stood he had to hold his nerve & score again , it makes me laugh when people dismiss spot kicks as just a penalty , a lot get missed or saved & a good penalty taker is a real asset , well done Cauley , great stuff
If that clown of a ref had waited a millisecond longer, then Woodrow's clinical finish would have stood anyway. Goals are goals. Bruno Fernandes and Jamie Vardy gladly accept their penalties. So should Woodrow.
Can’t rely on penalties( we’ve probably had more this year than any other I can remember over a full season.) It’s a stat nowt else. I’d be more impressed if he’d scored 5 from open play and 1 pen. Number of shots on target against goals scored is appalling for the team. Possession means nowt. Like I say do you think he is happy with his return. Pretty sure he ain’t. Hate to say it. I’m not.
I never watch em mate. (gospel) unless we’re that well in front. I’m a jinx. So took to the other room. You’ll usually see me go to the toilet at games and take a Jimmy. Waiting for hopefully the roar. Works for me. In fact all those around me insist I go tut toilet. Family and friends and acquaintances around. Not cos we will definitely score. But if I’m there, we definitely won’t. Long story how it came about. Around the nineties.
Of course you can't rely on penalties for a full season - but with the new rules they are becoming more and more important. And of course you'd want your number 9 to score more from open play. But he's scored 6 league goals already and is on course for around 18 league goals. Not too shabby. By all means feel free to bump this if he doesn't.
On course for 15 penalties on that theory. This is not bashing Woodrow. It’s about stats. He’s allus a threat, more so than any other striker we’ve got. Tis why I would still pick him. ( for the mo)
Didn’t watch the penalties at the millennium. Scored all. I get nervous even watching the replays. Illogical but true. Where’s that straight jacket.
