    Many Italians dislike it but most are ambivolent inasmuch that a few verses are quite contentious. Personally I love the'jaunty' tune and it kind of sums up the Italians and the country and is not in the least militaristic like many are. I hate the dirge that is GSTQ but that too has some very dodgy verses forunately no one gets beyond the first two nowadays

    I've got to agree with you on this one.

    As a national anthem it is pretty naff and belongs in another age really.

    Asking a mythical being (God) to save an institution (monarchy) I don't believe in. GSTQ doesn't tick a lot of boxes for me.

    I'm an atheist and not particularly a royalist (although the arrangement does work), but I sing gstq 'cos it's the national anthem we're stuck with and I'm proud to be English/British.
    I have been accused of being from another age mind.
