Bloody teachers can afford to take pay cuts anyway when they've all got their own private cleaners and can afford lavish outdoor weddings and lar de dar photo albums :p

    Some are very misguided.

Shouldn't they be leading by example, rather than playing silly games

I wish I had 13 weeks paid holidays a year! And they want a better pension? Mebbes if they gave half of that up to improve the schooling whilst the kids are off they would have some justification.

Ironic that the teachers are unable to. I think it's time for some to get a grasp of reality.

Think you might be in the minority with that, can only assume you are related to one, because its a really bad timed strike IMHO.
Yes many work hard and do a brilliant job, but a lot the rest of the of the population that have been struggling alon are looking at a profession on a good wage with a good pension, holidays the rest of us would kill for and training days set aside that the rest of us have to work in with existing work. Lot more deserving cases out there.

Divide & Conquer working well if the responses here are anything to go by

"lucky to have a job" etc.

Lower working people's expectations to below zero and then they resent anyone slightly above that line.

Tory party policy down the years.

That's not how it works though is it? We don't say one set of workers have it particularly hard so all other professions should just get on with it and not make a stand to improve their conditions and profession. Particularly when much of their grievances relate to trying to improve the education of children by curbing the excesses of a deluded buffoon who is trying to impose ill-thought out reforms for which he has no mandate

Genuine question, why don't you retrain then? They're always looking for teachers who have experience in other careers

The posts on this thread are the exact reason teachers are striking. The govt propaganda machine has people viewing a group of educated skilled professionals as a whining bunch of overpaid babysitters.

When you consider the amount of time she puts in, my other half earns £5 per hour. And she's then taxed. And then they want to extend opening hours. And add years on to her retirement age. And ask her to do more work. Do you want a 70 year old who has worked nearly 50 years educating your children in future?

Some folk need to look beyond their noses and start realising that we should all stick together, not just look after ourselves.

If your job and conditions are **** then do something about it. Don't mock or complain about those that are are because you're not.
