They've done fantastic but will more than likely finish bottom of the Premier League next season and get rewarded for that with 3 years of parachute payments. They've left us behind forever. If only BFC showed a bit of ambition...
Yeah, we left them behind 20yrs ago. Nowts forever. Blackpool, Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton all got there, had their parachute payments as well. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Their owner had a £365 million personal fortune. We don't know if he'll splash any of that on new players. Said yesterday he'll attempt to sign Mooy for £10 million from Man City.
I work in Huddersfield and you're right he does have that fortune but for some reason spends hardly anything on transfer fees. As an example, last summer they signed a German defender for £1.8m (record singing) and the local paper ran numerous articles on it but yet there was hardlly any mention on the sale of goalkeeper Alex Smithies to QPR for £1.5m (net spend £300k). I'm sure he offered the cheap season tickets last summer to deflect attention from the fact he doesn't spend much money and to stop fans 'questioning' his commitment. I very much doubt he would spend £10m on alone on one single player.
Got a feeling Mooy will still go to someone else like Brighton and then fans will ask questions why they missed out on him. Still will shop in the cheap market signing players from the likes of Union Berlin. Hoyle made money from the sales of Lynch and Smithies. Sell on from Rhodes. Promotion bonus from Clayton. Then packed the team with loans as the cheap option and it's worked brilliantly but I suspect next season will be more loans too.
Still don't think as a club they will spend that sort of money on one single player but good luck to them. I hope they give it a right go and do stay up.
