This season is going to be one of our toughest for a long time I think. The disparity between the championship haves and the have-nots is becoming more brightly illuminated year on year. However, fighting against the odds is what Barnsley is all about, and the beauty of the game. If Hecky can create a team spirit and these young lads can take on board his instructions then we have as good a chance as the opposition on the day. Looking forward to seeing them develop as so many others have done over the last few years. But patience is required. I thinks it is so important that the club stays well behind Hecky this season as there will be some pretty tough times ahead. Stick to the plan. You reds.
The most irritating thing is that the financial clout of the "haves" is either completely unearned (parachute payments), or they only appear to be "haves" due to splashing around money that doesn't exist. Brighton should never have been allowed to get away with what they did. The chickens are coming home to roost for a few clubs already. Bolton and QPR both look in an extremely perilous position. Sunderland may also face serious difficulties if they don't go up this year. We just need to be patient and hold our nerve. This season is all about survival, and getting the team to gel. Then we can start moving forwards again.
