That’s irrelevant they are where they are and are a club at our level in terms of attendances etc. The model they have gone for isn’t one I want us to follow but it’s worked for them.
Not relevant.. no one on here as ever asked or expected the club to spend a fortune. The question is why does the club want to make money on every single signing.. The joke is on the club, coz three decent experienced players would help bring these youngen's through. Cos if they get beat every week they won't get better as some always predict.. They'll start to disappear up there own @r5e.. If the fans ever turn.. then this pack of cards will crumble..
Because in the league below we have one of biggest wage budgets, good attendance etc so we will rightfully get promoted to this league. You talk rubbish, like just because we are a small fish in this league we should just sell all our best players and accept we will be relegated without trying
we've already said they'll be no loanees we was offered a player on loan for season who I'd av took matty James but said no
There’s always clubs with players bought for huge fees or on huge wages. In recent years we’ve come up against Newcastle & Villa in the championship with players earning about as much a week as our entire starting eleven combined, that’s become the norm. Even Middlesbrough can spend £15m on Assombolonga & Wednesday can put players on £30k plus a week. No one expects us to compete with these teams financially. What a lot of us expect is that we shouldn’t treat every player at the club as a sellable asset. Have 3 or 4 solid but unspectacular players who are here for the long term, leaders & standard setters in the dressing room. They don’t have to be on fortunes. I’m sure Bobby Hassell & Stephen Foster weren’t. The other problem with only signing players with a potential sell on is that some of them inevitably won’t be starters so you end up losing them for nothing anyway like Jackson & Hedges. What gives us a chance at this level is by combining experience & youth & to have a settled squad. There’s examples out there. Burnley didn’t spend big before they got promoted, neither did Blackpool, Preston do it season after season, Millwall nearly reached the play offs 2 seasons ago. None of these sides break the bank. Preston’s the model for me. They sign young players & sign players from untapped markets like Ireland & they’ll play them alongside Clarke, Gallagher & others & they’ll end up getting bigger fees for their youngsters than we do because they’re higher up the league. There’s always enough basket case clubs in the championship to give you a chance of doing well if you’ve got a settled squad, that’s well organised & has a bit of experience to it. If you’re losing 3 centre backs in one go, along with your keeper & then you sell your most important attacking player who’s the only one that can win a header without replacing him then you aren’t giving yourselves a chance of finishing above them basket case clubs.
Yeah they are a similar size club in terms of attendances, their ground only holds 10k or so I'd like to think if they had a bigger ground they would get bigger gates, that's where the similarities end Bournemouth is one of the richest parts of england, their promotion to the premiership was nothing like ours in 97 as they had a billionaire throwing money at the cause to get them their, our owners want to make profit on every signing, wont sign loans as they wont make a profit on them and only sign players below a certain age.
Sorry for asking but have you any proof that the owners are taking out lots of money.Genuine question because that's a very bold statement you make there.
Maybe, but if there’s something they can see positive in the future they are more likely to think twice, even staying an extra year thinking their stock will rise further, but it seems to be get out at the first opportunity here. Players just don’t seem to leave other clubs at the same rate they leave ours, and so soon after joining, we’re turning over half a first team every season, I don’t think Luton and Charlton had a big of an exodus over the summer and are both above us in the league.
