Anyone following the trial for the murder of Grace Millane? Some of the things coming out are mental.

Just a bit of pre-context, Grace was a 22 year old british backpacker who's legged it to New Zealand on a backpacking journey. Ended up meeting a lad through Tinder and went out on the drink together, they've gone back to the blokes apartment and decided to have some super fun happy time.

She was a part of a BDSM website and was reportedly into extreme sexual acts such as hitting and choking.

This is where the Prosecution and defence differ.

The prosecution have said he's choked her to death, watched a bit of porn, took a few photos of her body and then went to sleep. Also went on another date the next day while her body was still in suitcase.

The defence have said she's died after being accidentally choked during sex, he didn't realise she was dead at the time and went to get a shower in which he fell asleep in until the morning when he's woken up and discovered the body. No sign of struggle and no scratches, bites or bruises you'd typically expect with a struggle.

The timelines for both prosecution and defence come back together with him stuffing her body in a suitcase and burying her in the woods.

    Absolutely mental stuff.

If it was truly an accident I cant see why you wouldnt notify the authorities straight away. And as far as I'm aware being into BDSM doesn't give any sexual partner the right to kill you. Her poor family.

He's saying that he panicked that nobody would believe him. Either way it is another sad waste of a young lady who's been too trusting in a place she didn't know well.

I suspect panic might stop you phoning the authorities - especially in a case such as this - accidentally kill someone in what is clearly an accident - eg hit pedestrian with car is one thing, accidentally strangling someone to death is a bit harder to pull off as an accident - even if it really was.
Just cant quite get the he didnt realise she was dead bit, but I have absolutely no idea what really happened. Only its tragic for her and her family - and for the guy if it really was an accident.

Only tragic for him if he'd told the truth from the off. And then going off to another date with a body in a suitcase
Really cant see why anyone would have sympathy for him?

The reference to BDSM reminded me about the time some years ago, my mate and myself arrived home from work to find his wife in tears looking at an array of bondage gear and porn mags scattered across their kitchen table which she had found hidden under the bed in a box of their 13yearold son
... My mate and his wife both in shock turned to me and asked what they should do... My reply which didn't go down too well was...

Mmmm well smacking his Ar5e isnt going to do you any good.... ....

Death by misadventure. The bloke off home's in the country killed himself having a wa nk with a carrier bag over his head.

I can’t decide whether that’s a great way to go, or a really horrible way to go.

    Burried her in a suitcase?

Sounds like an open and shut case to me

Jesus, there’s some pretty off-colour remarks on this thread, have some respect.

My guess is that it was a genuine accident but because i imagine it would be at the very least manslaughter rather than death by misadventure as proper precautions can't have been taken so the guy panicked and then did unspeakable acts to cover his tracks.

Can't see it myself. If he hadn't have gone on another date the day after I might have bought it. That's just proper ****** up.

When I've done with a sex strangling session I always ask if the other person is alright. It's only polite. I'll usually go as far as making them a cup of tea. I'm not a fkucing monster.
