I've seen his name by a few posters on here, and not really taken him seriously ( as I knew nothing about him ), but this popped up on twitter earlier - thank you Jon Parkin - a great article on a real innovator with a very refreshing outlook. https://www.coachesvoice.com/outliers/ I don't think we've a chance of getting him, but he looks a perfect fit, any club with real ambition should be monitoring the goings on at Östersunds FK
He was the subject of a feature on BBC recently. Brilliant what he has managed to achieve at Ostersunds. Remains to be seen if he could cope with the pressures of Championship football Club, although he had a taste of it as a coach at Leeds United. Too much of a gamble for me and the one thing we can't afford to do at this present time, is to gamble.
Interesting stuff ... I do wonder if the disposable nature of English football would ever allow for an approach like that?
Made himself a decent life in Sweden, kids speaking Swedish, family settled. Can't see them wanting to move to Barnsley, but you never know. He certainly has some good experience there and at European levels.
Cheers for the link. There's another article in the Guardian today as well: link Personally, I would be chuffed if we went for him. I also think it's good timing as I don't think - without sounding like a 'massive' - he can progress that club any further after the game with Arsenal. We'll see
I have to admit Churton I dont really know. Of all the candidates mentioned thus far, I personally feel Paul Simpson could be a good fit. He's got management experience and won the World Cup with the U 20's. Knowing those players and others playing at that level, could prove useful going forward.
He does sound interesting. So does that guy at Ostersunds. I think we can attract reasonably good quality candidates if they're prepared to view the medium term and the board reassure them relegation won't mean the sack. But I can't yhink of any manager outside the ones insulated by money at the top clubs who's never had a poor season or failed somewhere.
You know the more I read about this fella the more I wish we could persuade him to come to us. Still young but has a different way of coaching that I haven’t seen other managers do before. But the thought of leaving behind what he’s done in Sweden and not playing the likes of Arsenal again would be hard to turn down.
