I can accept him being dropped but surprised he didn’t make the bench - these days he seems to convey the right attitude and would have thought he would have been a notion on the subs bench. He didn’t sulk earlier in the season when benched - remember a very positive disposition after the Burton away game when he didn’t get on but was the first to celebrate with Izzy and Barnes who had played and scored.
He's been a great servant for us. Bringing him back to the club and Conor getting captaincy around the same time, were the main reasons we got promoted. When his career is over he should be guaranteed a place somewhere on our coaching staff with Sir Bobby and Disco. But I don't expect us to see much more of him in a red shirt, before he's probably released in the summer, no matter which league we are in. Jose doesn't seem to be a fan of wingers, so isn't going to make an exception for an attacking player with no goal to his name in nearly a year and a half. The winds of change are blowing through our club.
As we saw with winnall that there is no loyalty in a player to the club this would be the complete opposite where a club shows a player who has committed everything to our club is just dropped and possibly released at the end of his contract. BFC is more important than any one player but I would in this case like us to show some decency and class in how we treat hammill.
I agree with all those comments. But there is little decency and class in football I am afraid. I don't think we'll see much of him before the end of the season and I think he'll be released. However he gave us some great moments
He would be a different player playing with Moore and mcburnie he could also play in a front 3. He wouldn't let us down, it's been said many times his form has suffered for going most of the season with only Bradshaw to aim at.
I will never forget Adam Hammill's contribution to our team, and that decision to bring him back again after we'd just lost in the Fa cup at flipping Altringham... well that was a brilliant and a season changing decision. Nowadays though his effort just isnt working out like it used to, and yes we are back in a tougher league and maybe he is a marked man and all, but Im also wondering if the club will want to offload him in the summer.
I will always hold Adam in the highest regard for what he's contributed to the club and for his obvious love for BFC. I think it's clear he's never going to be the player he was at this level again. I think he still has plenty of threat at League One level or below. I know it's not the way football works these days but is the following scenario beyond our reach? :- Offer him a three year deal during which he can start taking whatever coaching badges he wants. If we stay up then give him season long loans to lower division sides til he's ready to retire. He's still got talent that would shine through at an appropriate level and it would be a waste for it not to be enjoyed. But he'd still be part of us. I know that's all full of suppositions and misty eyed idealism but wouldn't it be nice if it could happen?
we now find out whether he knuckles down and earns his way back in or jacks it in, hopefully the former as he could be a good sub
If we go 4-3-3 , still room for either isgrove or Hammill to play alongside Moore and mcburnie. Or at least a place on bench to give us options
Maybe the new regime doesn't hold Adam with the same sentiments as the old one and a fair amount of the fan base do and I don't think it would be too much of a surprise if he was allowed to leave.
