Have we shot ourselves in the foot being 8th?

I have a feeling that the club is seeing us as pretty much safe and achieving our aim of stopping up this season and so are willing to take the risk of selling a key player(s) to make some money. Had we been lower down the table we may have held on to said player(s) and then potentially had a brilliant second half of the season again.

 

I think there's a lot in what you say. However, I also think the real answer will only be known once we see who's coming in.

If a couple of so-called "box office" signings arrive, all will be forgotten. If not, I think you're probably right.

 

Nope we've sold Winnall who would have had one of his sulks if we hadn't. Reckon if he'd have stayed his goals would have dried up, if we played him.

Couple of Mill in the bank. Bradshaw, Armstrong and Watkins chomping at bit. Another striker coming in. No shortage of firepower. Could get even better.

Optimistic that our season is going to take off this second half. Playoffs again. Hourihane winner.

I think you're right and I think the reason is that those running the club do not truly believe in themselves. They may WANT to see us in the premiership but it appears they dont actually believe we could mount a serious challenge so in their eyes 7th is no better than 20th. May as well get a little something if it makes no difference. If they truly believed in their manager and players they would not sacrifice their promotion hunt for a few quid which is what they have risked doing

 

I believe we have the firepower to continue our upward path, however if Hourihane leaves, I cannot see Scowen, Watkins or Hammill delivering those pin point corners/crosses.
