Have you changed your mind about Brexit?

Five choices - just curious to see what people think of this some time later.

 

Nope.

I'm even more convinced I made the right decision.

 

I originally thought it was a bad idea. I now think it’s a really bad idea.

 

I'd say this is true.. which ever way you voted.. your stance has hardned

 

It's been a farce from start to finish.... Why anybody voted leave and trusted this government to lead us out of Europe with any confidence is beyond me....

 

The Remainers are winning the debate as both the main political parties are INTENTIONALLY spinning things out and muddying the waters to such an extent that people are becoming increasingly disillusioned with the whole issue.

But I continue to believe that Brexit means Brexit.
No further EU elections - because we cannot keep having an EU election every few years.
Out means out.

 

I was a remainer, albeit quite a weak one when the original referendum took place, and briefly considered voting leave for masochistic reasons. I am not going to lie, I have taken quite a lot of perverse pleasure from the headless chicken show in the Tory party. But it now feels like the joke is wearing rather thin. It's an absolute disaster and the sooner it's reversed the better.

 

In that case let's go back to the 70s when we voted to stay in, and as you say, in, means IN...

 

Leaving will be catastrophic in my view.
The only people who will benefit are the establishment elite.
It's like a horror show unfolding before your very eyes.

 

You'll be happy living through the utter devastation that leaving the EU will inflict on this country?? It was an advisory referendum; not binding in any way whatsoever. Someone braver than any of this current ****-shower needs to stand up and pull the plug on the whole, sorry fiasco.

 

Everyone had their own reasons for voting in or out - we were given poor information by both "sides" it seems, but the Leave campaign bordered on criminal. Johnson, Gove, Rees-Mogg & Farage strongly believed in Leave & for me, this tells you all you needed to know - they appear selfish opportunists who do not have our interests at heart, just their own. I don't want to offend anyone who voted Leave but all I can think of is turkeys voting for Xmas. We were lied to incredibly! We seem to think that we are so important that 27 other countries will fall over themselves to trade with us. Leaving nag was & is a massive mistake & we will regret it immensely

 

I voted to leave & now I am even more certain that I made the right choice

 

I am now increasingly convinced that if we leave the EU on the current track that I will have to leave the country to continue to work in my chosen industry. Being out of alignment in services will decimate my industry and lead to major job losses, and minimal chances of finding new roles. Retraining to work in a warehouse or call centre for a 70-80% pay cut is not my idea of fun.

But if the will of the people is to force me out of the country of my birth, who am I to argue?

 

Why? I voted Remain and still stand by the same reasons for doing so, as I initially held.

 

I didn’t vote as I thought that I did not have enough information to do so (of course I was right about this it is not a decision for the clintiele of Wetherspoons to make). In retrospect I should have voted remain ( even though I see problems with the neoliberal construct that is the EU). The problem isn’t Brexit per se a sensible political party could have made it a success. Unfortunately the tories do not care an iota for the country just maintaining power for its own sake. Given the closeness of the vote you approach negotiation in a positive way with no red lines you negotiate Norway +. Then when you have done that you have a 2nd ref saying do you want Norway + or remain.

 

I do not debate politics , my reasons for the way I voted are my business , I replied to the post because it asked a question & I replied . I do not like people who try to impose their views on others , I just respect every individuals right to vote which way they wanted without having to justify themselves & that is me done on the subject.

 

Ok, Just interested to hear why you are even more certain given the shambles of a Govt and fiasco that has followed.

 

That's because the people incharge of it.. are actually against it ..

 

We live in a democracy so you have the right to vote as you see fit.

Your answer comes across to me that you don't want to say why you voted how you did, or you don't know.

 

So many things have changed since June 2016 that it is a fallacy to pretend that the vote produced a mandate for anything. I suspect too few Leavers have changed their minds and a second referendum may be counterproductive. Too many of them want to be free of the EU regardless of cost and believe the lie of how easy it will be strike new trade deals. There is a real possibility that the Rees-Mogg hard Brexit alternative reality may come to fruition. The real cost will only strike home when a large multinational like Nissan or Airbus actually moves to mainland Europe. The Remain movement is determined and growing, and any form of Brexit which occurs this movement will work to have the what remains of the UK rejoin the EU at the earliest opportunity.
