Liam Fox said it would be the easiest trade deal in history. David Davies said he would negotiate trade deals in tandem and have them sorted by now. John Redwood said the Uk would generously agree to trading on exactly the same terms as now.
Throw Boris Johnson in with his they can go whistle and you have 4 characters that are that dodgy, they would have made it into a Charles Dickins novel.
Don't forget Priti "Sacked for potentially treasonable dealings with a foreign government" Patel with her "The EU can Sod Off" to keep the men interested... or something
You say “I’ve not noticed anything but an acceptance that the road ahead is difficult from the leave camp”. The above all prominent leavers seem to say it’s a piece of piss
Just seen this in Business Insider. Looks like Liam Fox is about as popular with business leaders as a dog crap sandwich. http://www.businessinsider.com/brit...rexit-trade-deals-india-liam-fox-2017-11?IR=T
Not quite accurate JC. He said it should be the easiest trade deal in history but politics could get in the way of economics. Even The Grauniad reported it this way. I imagine that he probably regrets using language that people like James O'Brien and other prominent remainers could twist and use as ammunition but the principle of his message was correct. The reality of negotiations is that the EU were never going to make them easy and we probably should have expected a large degree of intransigence from them (and vice versa).
