    Per Paddy Power.

    Highest with Karanka.

Anything to be worried by? Personally I don't think he would even think about going but I hate hearing his name by tabloids, betting agencies.

Theres a exiled mackem in my village and he reckons Karankas nailed on for the job and been in talks with them yesterday. Hopefully true.

Time to worry would be if Sunderland request permission to speak to Hecky , until then , everything else is pure speculation

He's also odds on with Betfred. Karanka odds on as well, mind.

The old bookies like plenty of runners & riders to encourage more people to take a flutter

Given their history for hiring and firing, I honestly think in answer to the question " why would I want to go to Sunderland"
providing he's been guarantees of course he might dwell on what could happen at Oakwell in the coming months and go back to them with a " thank you, but no thank you."

Can't keep selling his best players and expecting him to keep Championship status with unproven players year in year out and not expect other clubs to come knocking.

    Vive la takeover

Not at all. They might offer him a pay rise, but they're skint so it's unlikely to be so much more than we're paying him that would tempt him to leave for such a thankless job. Also, I'd hope that the new ownership will be looking to give Hecky a pay rise as a priority.

If there’s anything behind this then the timing of this couldn’t be worse really and a bit of a dilemma for Hecky as well as BFC. If the Takeover happens Hecky would probably want assurances from the new regime. Meantime, if we are approached by Sunderland, do we allow Hecky to talk to them? Would the Sunderland job be seen as much as a poisoned chalice by Hecky given the uncertainty of any takeover or no takeover.

The Head Coach is an interchangeable cog under the current strategy. We'll just get someone else in. Nothing to worry about.

Looked on betfair , 1500£ in total bet on who gets Sunderland Job , think the bookies try and generate a market . Would bet Karanka getting job if I had a bet

Apparently it only takes as little as £10 bet here or there on a particular runner for the market to change drastically.

Also, it was only the other week that Paddy Power were offering odds on Ugo Ehiogu becoming the next BCFC manager despite the poor bloke being completely dead.

    ^^^^this^^^^

I assume Sunderland are after a Manager, something which Hecky has no experience of, when Watkin's left and Hecky was left in charge of the phone as well as coaching the team we went to sh*t (might have something to do with selling our best players also of course)

PH was "left in charge of the phone"' when Linton Brown left his role as CEO, not when Maurice Watkins left his role as chairman. In fact, when Linton Brown left Maurice Watkins and Watkins' associate at Brabners actually assisted PH with speaking to clubs, players and agents in the absence of a CEO.

What's the difference between a manager and a head coach? I really don't understand the apparent distinction.

Point taken on Brown V's Watkins but it was pretty obvious from his interviews at the time that Hecky was frazzled with the extra admin and it probably effected the coaching side.
When a manager takes over a club its like a short term dictatorship - example would be from someone who is close to the inner-workings at Burnley who told me when Eddie Howe became the "manager" he decided he didn't need certain scouting networks and closed some of the satellite academies, he decided who was in and who was out for any non-playing member of staff who had any involvement in football, he decided what players he wanted for his style and who would fit into that and the owners of the club just provided him with the money. So some very fundamental decisions about the top-to-bottom setup of the running of the club were taken by Howe as well as the recruitment of players, and as per usual when it didn't work out he left - leaving behind his little empire. That is not Hecky's role.
