Just listened to the latest full 17:18 minute interview with Hecky on BBC Radio Sheffield - prior to Fulham Hecky sounding absolutely peeed off Im feeling very sorry for the guy right now - lots of hard work undone and unraveling in just 2 days. Hecky as we know is Barnsley through and through - I wouldn't expect him ever to willingly leave. But this player contracts and transfer debacle must put doubt on that
I have also listened to it throughout, I didn't get the impression you did, he is accepting the situation that the club has to be balanced on and off the field. He would clearly have preferred to keep Conor, but nowhere did he criticise the clubs actions, or the players, it is as it is, He knew he was in for a long interview session given the circumstances but he is clearly looking forward positively to the future and nowhere did he suggest he is going to leave. I suggest you listen again.
Ofcorse hes pee'd off. Hes a barnsley fan first and foremost, that being said he knows how the game works and hes a big boy. He'll get on with his job the best he can. However, hes a proud man and if incomings arent forthcoming, he wont put his name to a second half of the season slaughter.
To be fair to YN I also got the impression that he was less than thrilled with the way things have been handled. It also struck me that if the Winnall deal with Wednesday is geared towards appearances, goals etc. it might end up being less than lucrative. If Conor was to go there then we are in different territory altogether.
Watching it on player he looked absolutely fecked off to be honest. He didn't look in slightest bit happy. First time I have seen him like that. He was trying to put a positive spin on things but very disheartened
That's great - BUT Unless Barnsley are very very lucky that those players drop straight in to the side - then it's down to Hecky and his backroom staff to get these players up to speed and fitting into the team. In affect it's back to square one and no further forward with a very high risk that the team slides backwards. Don't be surprised to see the team slip from 8th from top to 8th from bottom if more players leave.
We've sold one fecking player! Who we have good replacements for. Potentially bringing someone even better in.
Because that's most probably not going to happen. Why would Watkins, Conor + Bree want to stay? They are all in the same boat as Winnall. They have agents too capable of "making things happen" and the club clearly lacks a bit of backbone to resist. Whatever anyone things of Winnall his strike rate per games played is exceptional. As for loans coming in - by the time they are up to speed (if that ever happens) it will be time for them to go back. Just imagine what would have happened during the Prem promotion season - a better team that this one - had we cashed in on Liddle, Moses, Eaden, De Zeeuw, Redders and Bullock at Christmas?
Well - that's were the 'very very lucky' bit fits in. Fingers crossed tho. But if a large portion of the list in the Chronicle does leave then I think it's going to be difficult to say the least. Reading about rubbish on the front page of Chronicle today - and also reading rubbish on the back pages
Don't read the Chronicle so can't comment. What I can't fathom is that the success or otherwise of our team on the field doesn't just depend on who leaves, it also depends on who comes in. Only when we know who's left and who's arrived can we begin to make a judgement. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather nobody left, but it's not the end of the world. We're still having one our best seasons EVER in our history.
