I didn't ask. I cannot understand what the point of following football with such a rigorous respect for the involved parties' personal finances. Nor the aloof disinterest in rivalries that form the very basis of the game and its appeal.
I don't give a **** about his finances. What I'm saying is I understand his decision & giving some what I think are logical reasons as to why he's made the decision he has. Finances one of them.
He might get to pick players that he actually wants narr, although it is Leeds he`s going to so they might think they fetched a yes man in going on his Tarn exploits.
I agree on all points with the exception of wishing him well. I simply cannot wish him well at Leeds. I hope they get dragged into a relegation battle with us.
Aye and he is bailing out when the goings got tough . His team selection, his tactics, his gameplan = 4th from bottom, a point above relegation. These are facts, not supposition or assumptions!! Just saying like.
Again, helps you correlate. He had no allegiance to Barnsley. So **** him, off he goes. But Hecky does have an allegiance, so once again, although your summary is BANG ON, it hurts cos he's a fan. One of us.
Oh I'm gutted. But if I was him, I'd go too. With some trepidation but I'd look after me & my family.
That time he passionately called Wednesday 'That Club' (would make a good sticker that ) He must realise most fans are thinking the same about his choice. But yes, he is a big man to make that choice and live with it. Takes some boll0x. I'd have sadly wished him on his way if he'd have gone to Sunderland. I just can't do that with Leeds. My mates are Leeds fans, I grew up amongst them. The irrational hated I have for 'That Club' are as strong as the love I have for BFC.
The club definitely needs to look inwardly to assess it's own role in speeding up his exit. He's sounded frustrated with things since last January and has had to deal with far too much baggage in the role than he deserved. This was our opportunity to retain a manager for a prolonged period of time. He would have inevitably moved on to bigger and better things (and I don't think Leeds is the right move for him in this regard) but it feels like we contributed heavily to accelerating it. Some of this was unplanned and unavoidable, but a lot of it wasn't, and a manager needs to feel that he's being supported by those around him. I doubt there's many of us who could say we did this well in Hecky's case. I have no animosity towards him. I want him to be a success long-term. My expectation is that he'll be chewed up and spat out by Leeds in 6-12 months time, because that's what they do and he's not an appointment which will excite their fan-base. I can wait to truly wish him well in the job that follows this one.
Nailed on . Been pushed too far. Makes you wonder why 2 players turned us down. Seriously need to rethink regime for player development squad
Agreed, it's an inevitable outcome after what has happened since January 2017. Well done to everyone that has made it possible.
We've only just been taken over, the CEO has only been in place since last summer. I'm not sure who, of the current regime, needs to critically look at what they've done to speed up Hecky's exit unless you're pointing a finger at James Cryne. The Lee consortium and Gauthier Ganaye weren't in place last January and I would argue that the latter was appointed too late to be effective pre-season.
It all comes down to money. Unless we have an owner willing to put in substantial cash we will never be able to compete consistently at Championship level. Every player and manger who’s left has increased their earnings massively and the majority have gone to teams in our league. Our manager even with a Barnsley connection as strong as most fans has gone. Football is all about money, we are going to be perennial championship strugglers at best.
If someone offered to triple my pay with the likelihood that I’d get 3 years money and only have to work 6 months, I’d walk out of my current job on my hands to benefit my family.
