Just a thread to offer some support to Andy White, AKA Whitey, AKA YTBFC.

Been in the new job about a year.

I'm a DJ & DJ agency owner & I live the dream, but I also deal with a lot.
Things you don't get in a job you not only work in, but live. It takes it's toll on me personally, but I wouldn't change anything, as music is my passion, (BFC a very close second). I think Andy will have had a very similar experience (I've only seen him briefly in a pre match interview last season).

Can we on here give him some thanks? I know he is working his balls off.

I was just thinking earlier actually how much better the media side of things has been this past year. Love watching the final whistle, tunnel cam, goal cam etc. videos and now these new match round-ups or whatever they are called are brilliant. Now I don't know if it's a coincidence and the fact they were looking to employ someone new means they wanted to improve anyway or if he has been directly responsible for the remarkable turn around but there's no denying that it has improved ten-fold since he started working there.

However ;) he does tend to get involved in things that aren't his remit. I'm not saying he shouldn't as I know he just wants to help people and also stick up for the club which is admirable but is his choice to do so and means he gets some of the flak for stuff that has nowt to do with him. Sometimes, his replies aren't very professional to say he is representing the club (whether he thinks he's saying it informally or not, people will always associate his replies as linked to the club now). He has improved a lot on that though, again in a short period of time, so I won't be too harsh on him for it.

I'm not defending Andy as I've only met him twice. Those two times though I really could see how genuine he is.

The reason I'm posting this is 20 years ago I left a career to do something I loved.
Financially it has been ups & downs & it has been emotionally. A lot of the time it's been the number of people who offer me support that has kept me going. I know I'm making a change in music for thousands of people in my job & I know Andy is doing the same. Boundaries & stuff like that you learn as you go on, but surely we didn't all listen to Whitey for his professionalism, rather for his passion for the club & his humour.

Lots of folk on here will ask for your heart & soul & more. You're already doing that. I can see a massive parallel to my life & it is hard at times. Folks on here need to appreciate what you're doing. Have a good break pal. We may meet up for a drink again B4 long.... LOL

Glad you appreciate some of our content, but in fairness these ideas were already in place. I refuse to take credit for anything media wise, certainly not solely anyway. I was lucky enough to work alongside two outstanding colleagues last season, and another colleague on match days who has been a big influence. Sadly we lost one of our team in May but myself and my colleague have worked hard to try and maintain the high standards we'd set last season. We've a million ideas, but sadly we don't have the numbers. But we can always sleep easy because regardless of that, our output beats 90% of the country. Pride, not arrogance.

You're probably right regards my getting involved in things I ought to steer clear of. But it's the fan in me. I just want to fix everything. But I know now that I can't. And again, you're probably right about how I can often come across to others on here. I felt I could just continue to be me. But i'm no longer seen as me, am I? I'm Whitey from the Club now. I get that. It's sad like. But I get it.

I have never met Andy (Andrew),I used to love his Podcasts and the compilation videos he put together. These were of a far higher standard than the club produced and it was obvious that he ought to be working in the creative media sector. I believe he studied Creative Media at College when he was younger, but I could be wrong. I think he is an inspiration to keep believing in achieving a dream. I hope he continues to develop new skills and the Media dept expands further. I like the way he defends members of the BBS,even if their views he doesn't agree with. He seems a very decent person.

I too have never met Andy, but he's someone who wears his heart on his sleeve, both in his BBS contributions and in his role at the club. With the latter, what is produced now reflects his passion for his role and BBC, and it's nice to see someone enjoy and succeed doing something that is a passion.

"We/I" just need to remember that in some ways we are fortunate on here to have someone who's prepared to stick their neck out at times, openly bridge the gap between supporters and club, but not to shoot the messenger. I think he's used a lot of feedback from on here to give us the first class media output we have now. There's only so much he can do about non-media issues.

Next month I'm absolutely snowed under, some long trips away, I think it's a game every three days or summat Hecky said. Brutal. But I'm looking to have a weekend off at some point where I go to a game as a fan again. I'll keep you informed. Be good to have a few beers again.

People need to recognise that the issues they have are issues I'd like resolving too. But the magic wand doesn't exist. Things take time.

I was lambasted on here over the summer for saying 'exciting times'.

But it is. I don't tell lies. I might be a lovely person, but I'm an honest one.

However, after nearly 20 years on various iterations of the BBS, I know that there'll always be the moaning and complaints about something. We're from tarn. Moaning is as compulsory as voting Labour.
