Who on here would rearrange or come home early from a holiday because there was a Barnsley match?

Personally I wouldnt think twice about missing a game for a holiday.

My holidays are usually footballing holidays! If I was to go on a proper holiday, I'd probably go in pre season anyway, end of May/start of June.

A friend of mine ( a true ipswich fan ) was on holiday in Spain in 2000 .
Decided to get a flight to the play off final but had to leave before the end of the game to get a flight back to Spain .

I'm missing the Ipswich and forest games as I'll be on a family holiday with the wife and kids.

It was booked before I decided to get a st mind you... first season ticket in ten years after being a st holder for years. I can't get to evening games due to work but I ended up spending more last season on tickets and walk ups on the day, with bringing my lad, so st seemed more sensible. His was free too.

Summer holidays are dependent on when my wife can get two weeks off from her ward. I miss the Ipswich, Forest and Morecambe games while we are in Cyprus. Wouldn't sacrifice family time and memories I don't think.

Missed the play off final last year as my son's team were on tour in Salou and Barcelona, planned 2 years previously. That was gutting, but a great crowd of reds in The Palm Tree eased my pain. Didn't even think there'd be a problem 5 months earlier.

At least you knew you were missing it. I broke down at Newport Pagnell, waited a full hour to be recovered and listened to the whole game on the way back up the motorway in a courtesy car.

    Felt quite surreal.

I generally go on holiday in late September because it's cheaper.

I went to a home game almost straight from the airport a few years ago. I'd just got back from Florida and we were at home to Fleetwood.

    Worst idea ever.

Depends upon the fixture. Can't say I would rearrange for a regular fixture, but if we ever go up I can't think I'd miss the first game.

Oh no. So close too. Been lucky over the years that I've never had travel problems to matches either by car, coach or train. Been to a few where it's been postponed late on or abandoned.

I once missed an home game because I crashed the car. I'd got halfway to the game and realised I'd forgotten my season ticket. I stopped the car, turned round and a car came around a bend and took my front end off!

Back in the 80s we broke down (in different cars) on the Saturday going to Shrewsbury and got there as half time, and the following Tuesday on our way back from Sunderland in the full members cup.

Don't ever get a lift from me mate.

Never even look at the fixtures when booking a holiday. Life is not that shallow. Dropped on as I only miss 2 away games and fly back the day before Villa at home. Last year was in Gran Canaria when we played Leeds away. Couple from Southampton came in as I was watching Soccer Saturday. Draped a Leeds flag on the seats in front. Tried to be nice, but I just can't stand em. I left some West Stand Bogs stickers in the harbour, and a kid just tweeted me the evidence they're still on view.

In recent years, Hibs, Preston and Charlton come to mind.

Yep. Going even further back, 1995 I think, we arrived in Stoke just as radio 5 announced it was off, and turned straight back. Also that game at Middlesbrough that should never have started. Pitch like an ice rink. Abandoned at half time.

Not quite the same, but we had a week in Brighton booked about 5 or 6 years ago. The fixtures were released and I saw that the away game v Brighton was the day after we were meant to come home. We booked another hotel and stayed for a few days longer so I could go to the match. As it happened the Seagulls put 5 past our emergency loan keeper Gonzalez. No idea what happened to him. I'm not sure he was even a real goalkeeper. It was nice to extend the holiday anyway.

Recall the Middlesbrough match. I had just bought a new sports car and took my neighbour. On our return his wife gave me an earful for driving too fast, not knowing the match had been cancelled at half time.

We went straight from the Barnsley v Portsmouth match to Manchester airport in I think 1980. They were scrapping like mad down pipers cottage and the roof of our cortina got bricked from the flyover. The dent was so big we got all the way to Manchester with the brick still in place.
