I don't think he needs to play full games to be a massive influence in matches. I'm hoping our new manager has him looking fit but not too fit and we get to keep him for the season, with him fit and raring to go in the first team at Leicester for the new season.
Just a fantastic player, just what we have been missing...never did i think we would get him back on. I was was watching him when they came out for the 2nd half pointing, encouraging, talking. Top top pro very lucky to have him. I think when kane gets fit and with Mowatt back amongst it we will have a fantastic midfield 3.
James is just quality. The first time he was here was amazing, he was the best player on the pitch by a country mile. He's way out of our league (wages wise) and can only dream of keeping a player like James for any length of time. If I was one of the younger players I'd be watching and listening to everything he does. Players like him won't be coming here very often, we are very lucky to have him. Furthermore, he just looks and sounds like a true gentleman and there aren't many of those about in the game in this day and age.
He is pure class, doesn’t waste anything. It is great watching him. I keep having moments where I think “he’s out of contract at the end of the season, let’s get him signed up” but then reality hits me and I realise that his wages will probably be in another world to us. I imagine a top end championship club will snap him up, maybe even a low premier team.
No way we would sign up for that based on his injury record. Three months is perfect. I do think it’s our deal to extend whenever we want though which is a positive
According to the BBC: ".....the Tykes also gave loan signing Matty James his first senior start since turning out for parent club Leicester against Newport in the FA Cup in January 2019". That's not far short of two years since he played a first team game. Yet on today's evidence he looked like he has been ever present all that time. It's such a shame when a player with that amount of talent is wasted. I bet there are loads in the Premier League kicking their heels when they could be doing a good job at 2nd or 3rd Division level. Our gain for now and let's hope he stays fit.
Very good if it’s our option to extend. I assumed he would be looking for a permanent transfer somewhere in January
Mmmm... well he'll have to learn to press. Under the new Kaiser. Plus it's alright looking tidy, but there were no killer balls, or tbh there was nothing beyond what we're used to seeing in midfield, when it comes to looking an attacking force. Was prettier though.
He's been injured - a lot. I think he didn't play a game at all last season sue to injuries, not because he was left out
I know about his injuries but all I mean is that it is a shame that such a talent can't be used to it's full capacity. Maybe this period with us will get him back to full fitness and then Leicester will give us a good deal to sign him permanently. I'd like to see a player like that play for us for years and years. He's still only 26 I think.
Yes I agree PoR, he's a great player and it is a shame when that talent is wasted by injuries. He's actually 29 just for your information
I imagine we don’t pay his wages. So putting him in the shop window for another club to sign him in Jan.
I wonder who or what the link is between him and us. Since he was last here all the players have gone, the manager and all the coaching staff have gone and the club has changed ownership. Just seems odd under the circumstances that we were able to get him again and that no Championship club with better prospects for the season than us didn't go in for him.
