Following on from the leading ‘straw poll’ question the other day. I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Staying locked down will, in my opinion, save more lives in total. There will be deaths, most of which will unfortunately be the poorest in society through suicides and domestic abuse. The NHS system will stay under capacity, but unfortunately the lack of PPE will sadly cause a small percentage of nurses and doctors to succumb to this virus.

Slowly allowing people to go back to their lives, keeping the most vulnerable locked down will, in my opinion cause more deaths overall, purely through the overdoing of the NHS as more and more people will contract this ******* virus. Even those that are not ‘vulnerable’ will contract this and some will need hospital care and many of those requiring this care will unfortunately die. I don’t personally believe the capacity issue is exclusively due to NHS underfunding, no healthcare system in the world would be able to cope. I believe more people will die from this approach, more doctors and nurses will contract the virus and have to be off work, more of them will die, especially if there’s still the PPE shortage. Although I believe more will die, less amongst the poorest in the country will likely die. I believe this is what is driving people’s judgement on here currently. The virus doesn’t discriminate, the lockdown does.

So what’s the answer? Well, I know that I wouldn’t want to be one of the people that have to make this decision. Is it better to take action and condemn many of the poorest in society or take no action and condemn more people across the entire population? I wouldn’t want either on my conscience.

Should be a fairly easy decision for this government to make.
Everyone knows the Tories haven't got a conscience!!!

    Interesting analysis of "excess" deaths.
