I’m currently on furlough and getting 100% wages but I honestly wish I was working. I know the lockdown doesn’t help but how do people before this just sit at home doing nothing all day . Then again my wife went to work at 6:30 am and just called to say she won’t be finishing at the hospital until at least 10pm . Now that’s a long day .
Genuine question: Current situation aside, are Nurses, Drs etc exempt to working hours? I ask cos you often hear of them having to work these sort of hours
I think quite a lot of nurses work fewer but longer shifts than the rest of us don't they? Under usual circumstances of course.
I asked the exact same question to my wife today. And because she’s never done this type of hours before she wasn’t sure what happens . She usually deals with eye operations so usually finishes no later than 6pm. Unless Kell brook comes in like he did a few months ago for emergency surgery after his last fight haha But now working in ICU after 2 weeks training believe it or not . She had good Friday and Easter Monday off not now having to work.
Before all this kicked in I had a couple of hours at gym & maybe go for a walk, rest of the day was mine to do as I please. love it.
Please give her my best wishes and thanks for all the extra work/stress /danger she is putting herself under. Feel so much for all the NHS staff.
You really shouldn’t be sharing any information about patients online, no matter who they are. Legally, your wife shouldn’t be telling you, either, so you definitely shouldn’t be putting it online.
Thank you will certainly do that . I clapped for all NHS staff yesterday but she feels embarrassed and says it’s her job and that’s what she gets paid for.
I think a lot of staff feel like that. I know one of my nurse friends wants the free food companies are offering to go to the homeless and thone struggling with money cos they lost their jobs..
What a lovely gesture , I just hope after all this is done everyone (government ) realise how important NHS are and give them the money they need.
Don’t know about the NHS. But we have to abide to all the rules of the European time directive. In some companies and industries individuals can sign (or be persuaded shall we say) away their rights to these rules. We have on occasions relaxed one or two of the rules. When we are in. what the term is escalation. ( eg Flood work) So I’m guessing the NHS may be exempt or relax the rules on occasions like this. Examples of rules. 11 hour unbroken rest periods in 24 hrs. 24 hr rest period in any 7 days. Can be commuted to 48 hrs in a fortnight. Maximum 47 hr week averaged over 17 weeks. But as I say the rules can be tweaked depending on people’s jobs/roles.
You are quite right. Kell however lets people know what's happening. He himself put it in the public domain pre and post operation.
