Even though Hecky said we need to get players in early - I keep reading on here that we have been unsuccessful in trying to get players into the club.
    Add to this:
    Watkins gone.
    Scowen going.
And Roberts and Yiadom are being talked about as leaving.

    So as things stand now:
Are you excited about the coming season?
Are you concerned about the coming season?
Are you not bothered either way what happens?

    I'll start:
If things don't pick up BIG STYLE we will be relegated by Christmas.
    That's how concerned I am!!!

I'm constantly worried about the players we're losing but not so worried about the players we haven't signed yet.

We'll sign players. We always do. BUT the longer we leave them, the less chance we have got in getting them as other teams can offer them more money.

I reckon a handful of deals will be finalised when the new CEO comes in. As I keep on being told, rightly so as well, is that it's not even the middle of June yet. Players and managers are on holiday, weighing up options.

Regarding next season, a lot of teams below us have improved their management team as well as having bigger finances. I think there's a chance we'll struggle this season but so will other clubs.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how we are feeling. All we can do is sit in the stands and watch, or cheer from further afield. If the coach and team are good enough it will avoid relegation, if it isn't it won't. Sooner or later we will be in another relegation battle or another promotion battle.

The only way we can change things on the pitch is if several of us suddenly become great players and offer to play for Barnsley for nowt. Alternatively, a BBS syndicate drops £200million on the Euromillions and buy out the club. Neither are likely to happen anytime soon.

If other clubs were going out & snapping up players & our supposed targets, concern would start, but it's not happening, playoff's only finished a week ago, players are on holidays & deals will be in place for late June/early July.
It would be prudent for the new CEO to announce the new signings & give him a flying start to his tenure.
I know of a couple of commercial deals that have been sorted a while, but not announced, in think things will start to happen, or to be announced, when he gets his feet under the table.

Whatever happens folk will still moan that it's still not enough, or they ain't the right player, it ain't the right deal, it's wot happens, i'm happy to wait & see where we are come August...

I'm not even sure the whole 'signing people earlier means we get better players' is true anyway. We signed Angus in August for example, and signed 5 players in the last 2 days of the transfer window last year. The Scowen example now shows players take time with deals. Out CEO hasn't started work yet. It's June 6th. Just calm down

Can you please tell me the number of clubs in the history of the game that have been relegated by xmas & dont list struggling clubs who eventually went down at a later date, thanks in anticipation.

bearing in mind the amount of players needed this summer I would expect 5/6 players to arrive in the next 3weeks otherwise the trip to hungary for new players to bond together would look daft.A reckon loan players probably wont arrive till august .

Not all of those were roaring successes of course but we signed 3 players last May and only 1 (Yiadom) was massively successful, proving further there's not necessarily a correlation between time signed and success rate

I've never known a 'fan' seemingly take so much pleasure when things aren't going perfectly smoothly for his own team

I'll put you down in 'the not bothered' - couldn't give a flying toss what happens, category then.

Yer not on yer own in this category.
Only me and one or two more were ringing the alarm bells in January when the vast majority on here were saying 'we'll be reight, we are only one point off the playoffs'.

    Look how that turned out.

I'd say one was very good, one the jury is out on and the other three have been bang average to *****. I suppose with last minute signings it depends who's left at the bottom of the barrel.

I'm more worried about Thursday at the minute.

Will get bothered about the other Red Army after that.
