Followed and supported the team for a long time home and away and think it's a brilliant club. BUT I'm not Barnsley born and bred - (not even Yorkshire born.) For this reason I wouldn't feel comfortable in a BFC shirt. I'd feel a bit of a fraud.
What about all the leeds and man utd fans who are the same? Plenty wear the shirt. I'm not from liverpol but as a young'en used to wear an everton shirt too as my dad's a scouser. It's the shirt of the football club not the town so i can't see the problem. ( i havn't worn a football shirt or colours for over 40 years however).
There’s been plenty of bigger frauds who’ve worn the shirt mate especially on the football pitch. Get one on you reds
Took my lad to football training, tonight, where he proudly wore his Barnsley kit. Amongst his team mates was a Barcelona kit, a Chelsea kit, Man City and Man Utd x2, even a Sheff Weds kit. And I know for a fact, all these lads are Barnsley born and bred. Suffice to say, if Barnsley is your adopted club and town, wear the shirt with pride. You've earned the right to by being a real fan, rather than just a'supporter'.
Buy a shirt ya tight arse and support em with pride dunt matter wot people say, or think, as long as thar comfortable with that lovely shirt on thi back. WEAR YA COLOURS WITH PRIDE C.O.Y.R.
I was born in Norwich but “adopted the Yorkshire” aged 10. I’ve worn countless reds tops over the years, it’s the club you support that matters surely?
I’m not from Barnsley and have lived all over the UK, however I am very proud to support the closest local team to where I was born.
Iam not from Barnsley but got/had loads of shirts, polo shirts hoodies and wear em with pride, who cares if you're from Barnsley or not!
I don’t see the problem if you are a red at heart. You could argue that you have been internationalised
I was born and bred in Barnsley. I moved away but came back. Had a season ticket for many more years of my life than I haven't. Seen more games than I could ever hope to remember, I never wear the shirt. You don't have to come from Barnsley to wear one. You don't have to wear one if you support the team. Do what you like. There are enough stupid laws that govern us. Don't make your own rules to limit yourself.
