.. could have been a very smart move. GG has gone on record and set a timeframe for appointing a new Head Coach, being the Burton game. Harsley is not in the running as of yet, and imagine if he'd have gone gung-ho against Wednesday with an attacking team that didn't quite work out, and we ended up losing our local derby, doubling the embarrassment after losing our hero manager/fan/club legend to one of our most hated rivals. Wouldn't look to great on the old CV. Instead he's won us a valuable point in a relegation scrap, and he's got a good week and a half to impress from within and build his own style of play. Maybe by the Burton game it will look far more attractive to the owners to let PH2.0 carry on building his team than to uproot 2 weeks of hard work. Just a theory like but it may explain our approach to the game and the Gardner/Williams pairing.
Without wanting to sound negative I don't think yesterday was a point won, it was definitely two points dropped in my opinion. Wednesday were very poor and were there to be beaten. I personally don't think that PH strengthened his case yesterday.
Yesterday was definitely 2 points dropped, we should have beaten a poor wednesday second eleven. Draws are not going to be good enough to stay up and we need to start winning home games beginning with Burton Albion a week on Tuesday. If that means going gung ho then so be it, we cant continue with a cautious approach.
Mallan needs to be starting and taking corners free kicks coz hammill was poor at set pieces. Williams or gardner on bench
He didn’t want to commit himself to the job after the game if He had wanted it He should have been more positive and said so disappointing really on and off the pitch
Won us a point, cost us two. Not really relevant in my opinion. What's relevant to me is this cautious approach he took. Where was it? He lined up with two out and out wingers, none of this rubbish midfielder pushed to one side that we've seen so much of. We didn't go one up front we went for two full on strikers. The only negative aspect of the line up was Williams and Gardner together and in all honesty I suspect that's because we have to play Williams when fit but know he isn't strong enough to play in a two man midfield without additional cover
We played with a back 6 again. Ultra cautious. No good having offensive players if you have no one who can find the, in space.
