Sorry of the wall of text, but...

Patrick Cryne's biggest concern was always for Barnsley FC and our continued existence as a football club, and he's obviously been very careful about who takes over the reigns. Perhaps a billionaire new owner coming in and instantly spending 30k/week per player, failing to get promoted, failing FFP and putting the club in the mire was something he purposefully looked to avoid, and I think we should thank him for that.

I think our new owners' financially sensible approach is one we should be thankful for and optimistic about. We're Barnsley FC, we don't need 30k/week primadonnas. We've been spending 5k/week average on wages I bet, and even with that we've been very competitive. As we raise more revenue, I'm sure that'll creep more towards something like £10k/week with some modestly higher transfer fees paid, and for a club with our resoursefulness and eye for a bargain that'll see us right.

The biggest things our new owners will help with are:
    • Longer contracts
    • Ability to say no to transfer bids
    • Improved facilities - academy, training, 'match day experience' as they call it etc
    • International brand recognition = increased revenue
We just lost in a cup game to a team in the same league, after going a man down. 3 or 4 signings will keep us up, as long as we spend just a little bit more than what we have been. We don't need to be writing blank cheques. Then in the summer I'm sure we'll add one or two more quality players, again fitting a sensible wage structure that's higher than in the past, but still not the daft money some of our competitors are throwing around because they seemingly have some kind of fetish for debt and future bankruptcy.

Paul Heckingbottom is a fantastic head coach and we're lucky to have him. It's not his fault the board sold his players from under him, which to be fair I also understand the reasoning of. Cryne knows he's sadly on borrowed time, and he didn't know if he'd have new owners on board in time, so he looked to secure the financial security of the club as much as he could before the inevitable.

Yes we're in a bit of a mess at the minute, but I have complete faith in the setup we have and our ability to find the right new players. Carefully.

Looking at purely results I can see where the 1st paragraph comes from. However when outside factors are taken into account I think its wrong. The 1st sentence from teh 2nd paragraph, spot on, the wage structure will need to be looked at, this is the thing that has been, and will hold us back the most. However it has already been said I believe that things being planned will allow us to hold onto our better players. everything else though total ********!! Typical Kneejerk reaction.

Yes ....... but what amazes me is that it was highly probable that this sort of daft comment was coming -
    in JANUARY 2017
And yet it's taken all this time for foooking dozens on here to wake up to the fact.
When I posted back then - Patrick Cryne is selling up ....... I wasn't joking - but many on here thought it was a laugh.

    What a stupid post..........

Paying 1 player 30k a week equates to 1.56 million pounds. If we payed our whole starting 11 30k a week that would be well in access of 17 million. As a club we don’t earn a lot per annum so there fore within no time we would be in trouble with FFP and be far worse off you can’t change the wage bill that drastically over night it’s not how it works........

Chien Lee has 9 billion in the bank and promotion would bring in 120 million. Not stupid at all.

    1. You have no idea what his bank account looks like. People with that much money put 99% of it into investments.

    2. We would still be in trouble with FFP.

    3. The whole reason they invested was that they liked the structure of the club. That's not going to change (Thankfully)

    4. Please go and support Sheffield Wednesday if you want to see a rich owner pump millions into a club and **** everything up.

It’s irrelevant how much any of the owners have cos you can only make a loss of a certain amount per year as outlined by FFP to stop mega money being spent. Also spending big money doesn’t guarentee success look at QPR and Wednesday and the positions they are in. Owls spent loads and failed to go up and are now at risk of FFP punishments

Just go support Man City or Chelsea because it's clear you don't understand what Barnsley people are about and how we would want to gain success. Look at Sheffield Wednesday Birmingham Sunderland, is that what you want? I bet some Bournemouth fans are complaining now about being near the foot of the premier league. It's Burnley I take my hat off to not Man City they are doing it the right way and how we should with sensible investment, no major debt and good management through out the club, it's taken years for them to do it but also so difficult to maintain.

Jesus Christ. This is exactly what we don't want the new owners to see.

Thankfully we’re not going to risk the future of the club.

Well done by the way for ignoring the rest of my post.

After having a very good team taken apart and rebuilt with inferior players (at this time) we're still outside of the bottom three and, as far as I can recall, haven't been in the bottom three all season.

Hecky is working wonders with very limited resources and I doubt anybody could do as well under the same circumstances. Not many would have put up with the same uncertainty and upheaval that Hecky has either.

This current squad and manager are not good enough for the championship simple as. No way we will survive without significant improvements

I agree about the squad but completely disagree with you about Hecky. He's proven to me just how good he is with better players and I think he deserves the opportunity to manage our club with some appropriate financial backing.

Is like knocking a nail in a knot this

So what is to be gained from sacking him if the squad is not up to it?
