..............then the person at Barnsley who has giving permission for that sale to go ahead simply does not understand Barnsley Football Club and it's fans. End of - full stop - period
I remember the last bfc employee who sold us out for Wednesday..... he achived very little ever scince has Mr Wilson. Sam will be a small fish in a big pond at wednesday bad move imo
Whilst us supporters can afford you have views like yours, unfortunately football clubs cannot. They are faced with very difficult decisions that have to take into account many short term and long term considerations. All have to be made on the basis of what the powers that be at the club feel are in the best interests of the club. Whichever way they decide there are bound to be many that disagree. However it is likely that they are aware of far more relevant factors than we are. I like you will be gutted if any of our beloved players go to Leeds or Wednesday. However if the deal is right the club cannot afford to have such a view regardless of how the fans dislike it. It would be interesting to see how PC would respond to a very over the top offer from Bristol City despite what he has already said about never selling to them.
500k or turn it down and let him run his contract down and finish the season with us, he'll have a choice of clubs then on a free transfer. Finish higher up the table, better proposition for future players, bigger crowds with a decent finish to the season and more prize money with a higher finish. Show some balls BFC.
But why on earth would we consider selling our top scorer to a club who are not only a local rival but rival promotion chasers. Nothing to gain and everything to lose. Not like we are desperate for cash at the moment.
he wouldn't be going anywhere for that money. absolutely definitely not sheffield wednesday. would be a shocker of a shout to let him go there. let's hope it's just paper talk.
Let them hang on till almost deadline then say no. Any earlier wouldn't be as much fun , or satisfying.
No one has mentioned the long term harm and costs such transfers can have. Those of us of a certain age remember Hirst and Wilson. When such transfers occur then a shadow is thrown over Barnsley fans who live in areas where there is competition for support. Kids, potential supporters, take note of the positioning of clubs. For example - why should a young guy go to Oakwell when there is a belief that it's just a feeder club for other local nearby teams ???
If we can 2m + for Winnall this Jan we should sell to whoever is willing to pay it and buy the lad at Grimsby.
Nah. Just nudges history lesson . I'm waiting for that one where he stormed the kop single handedly and stood near the exit . Not one Wendy fan dared go for a half time Bovril that day.
I agree with the OP, however if we were to use some of the cash to lure Ashley Fletcher and Morsy then it would be good business indeed!
