It's that Hecky is massively underpaid, considering the almost impossible job he's doing. I hope we won't make the mistake of thinking that anyone could slot into the role because of 'the system'. We made that mistake to an extent when John Hendrie succeeded Danny, and we paid for it. Hecky should get as much as the highest paid player at the club at least. As I see it, that is somewhere between 250k and 400k per year, depending on which reports you believe. Relegation costs us £5M - at 2014 prices.
I completely agree and regardless of the takeover we have to do everything we possibly can to retain him.
Couldn't agree more. It's one less player, in financial terms (guessing). Give the lad what he wants and make him a fixture.
As Hecky is on a rolling contract then surely a regular review of his remuneration package will surely be included? I find it hard to believe that he is still being paid at League One rates - but if so thats a disgrace. IMHO a salary of anything less than 400k shows massive disrespect for his achievements and value to the club.
I can't begin to imagine, realistically, where we could find a manager that would be better, with the budget we have. Apparently we have funds to spend in January - I wonder what we should spend it on? The squad is easily good enough for this season. Get Hecky locked in and see how far this set of lads can go.
I've changed my mind on that. We should sacrifice 2 of them (not literally of course) and use their wages to put Hecky on a decade rolling contract. That would still leave us with 5, which is risky but it will do.
Surely the answer is in some kind of Dolly the Sheep type genetic engineering? Clone Hecky, keep the original and let the new one go to Sunderland. The clone would be 98% Hecky but with a subtle sabotaging addition of 1% Nudger genes, so that the new model thinks that 4-5-1 consists of 4 wingers, 5 goalies and 1 McBurnie, and 1% Hemmsy genes, so that Sunderland will sign sh!te like Frimpong and won't give a **** about scoring. Failing that, I agree with the OP.
If I may be a pendant, technically that's 6 goalkeepers. One actually playing in goal, the other 5 playing in midfield, ready to step in when the main keeper gets sent off. Therefore I suggest that they replace one of the 5 keepers in midfield with Frimpong and go with that.
Happy with that but to be fair I didn't mention having a goalie in goal. My, admittedly undocumented, assumption was that they'd want to find a place for 7ft 8" Paul Sturgess there.
This. Hecky needs to be paid what he is worth to the club. Right now that is more than any single player on the books. If he's paid what he's worth then I reckon Hecky would stay. Surely we aren't going to stand by and let him leave without a fight.......are we? Reckon we'll know by Monday. Fingers crossed......
How do we know what salary Hecky is on ? I am sure when he signed his last deal , he must have been happy with the package offered , otherwise, as he has said , he as had other opportunities & declined them . Surely if his salary is as low some posters have indicated , he would have been away before now
Hecky himself even commented how far off the truth people were with regards to money. I think other the clubs who Hecky will attract, will always be able to pay him more & he is only going to leave here when it's a job too good to be true, which will give him a chance to prove himself at a higher level, or a club with more opportunity to get to that higher level. The amount of rubbish that bloke has had to deal with, thru uncertainty & takeover gossip, players sold from under him, no CEO during transfer windows, I could go on, i think that alone shows his commitment to this football club & the fact that just about everyone on here would applaud him for his efforts when he does eventually leave for the bigger club, speak volumes for the bloke.
