You are in the top 1% of earners in the UK.

I'm just outside it myself, but I wonder how many footballers are in that 1% and how many Barnsley players are??

I reckon that it would be interesting to see the discrepancies between the bottom and the top earners within that group as well. Most Premier League players will earn 147,000 or more in a month.

Just under £3k per week so I'd be surprised if there wasn't one or two Barnsley players earning that. In respect of the premier league it is well documented that some players earn* this in under a week.

    *receive

I'm inside said 1%, and yes, I earn it. I work bloody hard for my money, I can't even tell you the amount of times I've worked for >30 hours at a time to get something finished.

According to most in this town though I'd be a fcuker because I work from home sat at my computers and not in a manual labour job.

That's just a good break at the crucible for some. Or it was when cig companies sponsored it.

There might be some Barnsley players on that, but if they are I would imagine it's only a few. Cranie and Turnbull maybe. Lita? I would think Ramage will definitely be getting that, but I don't know what percentage of it we will be paying. All speculation, I haven't a clue really.

I think most on here work hard for their money but don't earn anywhere near that figure however I think the point about *earn was directed more at footballers than posters on the BBS.

I had particularly aimed it at you, so you are quite within your rights to give it to me with both barrels.

Am probably generalising though like you are about most Barnsley folk.

You work for it, unlike many council chief execs, heads of childrens services (!) or NHS Trust managers etc, who 'earn' that and lots more. Their salaries never seem to get looked at when savings have to be made.

Don't think that's fair EN. Do you know how many statutory responsibilities LA Chief Execs have, on top of being the head of organisations of thousands of employees and balancing the demands of elected members? Also, look at the recent Panorama documentary on Baby P and the implications for Shoesmith (death threats, select committees, media mauling and guess what, she was scapegoated by politicians, police and St Ormond St).

Even my Assistant Director has responsibility for housing (10,000 home landlord), environmental protection, food safety, crematoriums, marriages, taxi licensing, public safety, ASB. All stuff which has a huge impact on everyday people's lives.

I can believe it, but that was last season in the Championship. He didn't fancy staying for what we offered him this season.

If you ever need an assistant or just someone to make tea and count paper clips bear me in mind - 50/50.

I earn about £120,000 (and then some) less than that a year.

    I need a new career.
