Are Dortmund right or wrong to suspend Dembele? A few seemed to suggest similar action against Yiadom for supposedly trying to force a move. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40915804
Right. Dembele didn't turn up to training, and didn't give any notice or reasoning behind it. No doubt they'll still get over £80 million for him too.
Correct for me. If I didn't turn up for work cos I fancied a different job I'd be in trouble, no difference. Except there is a difference isn't there? This is modern football which has turned into a vast, financially driven circus. Very highly paid young players sense the opportunity to move and get even richer, influenced by agents also in line to recieve various bonuses. Somewhere along the line there has to be some resistance to rampant player power. Dembele will get his move soon enough but there is no need whatsoever to sulk and mardy just because the club who pay you milions of pounds wish to get an acceptable fee. He signed the contract to earn him fortunes, now he should honour it. I'm not for forcing players to play for clubs against their wishes, but they're hardly poor souls being kept captive. They're incredibly rich young men who constantly want to become richer and/or further themselves. That's natural and most of the time an acceptable outcome is reached. But until then a little respect to the club you play for wouldn't go a miss.
Can't be compared. We have given permission for Yiadom to speak with Hudds, and presumably have agreed a fee. Dembele on an illegal strike.
It's disgraceful that so many players behave like this when they're under a long-term contract. They want the financial security but at the first sign of a bigger club coming in they throw their toys out of the pram. I can understand any player wanting to go to Barcelona, but be professional until your club agrees a fee with them, simple.
Yes they are spot on to do it and they should sue him for breach of contract as well. Yiadom is a totally different situation. He's done nothing wrong that I know of and has simply been offered the opportunity to speak to a new club after we decided to cash in on him
Yiadom gave an interview to Sky without the clubs permission so is in breach of his contract no doubt, just like dembele he's forcing a move but dortmunds board have obviously got a spine and a set of balls our board are sadly lacking in that dept
Has it been confirmed that the interview was without the club's permission? Is it also actually a breach of contract to talk to the media without prior permission?
