Exactly, giving up the pound will be the cost of rejoining (along with the vetos and rebates we had). In fact, if we were to try to reverse A50 now we would probably be in the same position and our losses would be unpalatable to a lot of the ardent Leavers. I've said before that the long-term end result of the leave victory *could* be the UK being even more enmeshed into the EU that we were before last June, with the Euro, Schengen, and the lot.

I would really, really want to see that just to see Farage's face (if he isn't already hanging from a lamppost somewhere with Gove, Johnson and Rees-Mogg when an angry mob got hold of them).

    Interesting article, tells it straight.

Basically we're in deep doo-doo and nobody in any position to do anything about it has either the mind or ability to do so. As much as I was thrilled to see the Tories get a kick in the teeth last month, it has left us rudderless on the roughest seas possible.

Looks like the biggest ever " cut and paste" job in history. We are running out of time on Brexit
so 12,000 European laws will be enshrined in British law on the day we leave the EU.!

To be fair that was always the plan - then once out of the EU the idea is to set about repealing the ones "we" dont like
where we is the Tory government removing annoying things preventing businesses operating without treating workers like people and giving them various rights etc

The ft article is the wrong side of a paywall.

I did see today that the new customs system is only just on schedule for delivery in January 2019, so two months slippage and it won't be ready.... but the design has to change depending on the deal we get. As a professional in the field, I'd say it is unlikely that we will have a working customs system within six months of Brexit.
