One of the Sunderland fans posted this site on their forum. http://www.footstats.co.uk/index.cfm?task=team_dashboard It says we are producing the most shots, and the most on target ( I only looked at the top three) Luton average 12.81 shots per game, Opposition 8.64 5.71 on target ,, ,, 3.31 Sendings Off Luton 2 ,, ,, 4 BFC 15.75 shots per game, Opposition 7.78 5.75 on target ,, ,, 2.86 Sendings Off 2 ,, ,, 3 Sunderland 11.00 shots per game, Opposition 11.49 4.29 0n target ,, ,, 4.31 Sendings Off Sunderland 7 ,, ,, 4 Not totally convinced by what it proves, but Barnsley are producing significantly more chances and conceding fewer chances to the opposition, particularly Sunderland, which can only be good. Perhaps Luton have been a bit more clinical in their finishing....in Sunderland's case I wonder how much their disciplinary record has been a factor?
What it does underline is that if we were more clinical we'd be clear by about twelve points at the top of the league.
I was watching charlton v pompy on sky the other day and the comnentator was enthusing about how much possesion the addics had over the season and only barnsley enjoyed more in div 2.
Interesting fact in those is that Sunderland stats are lower than the opposition in all but sending offs.
