Barnsleys 'style' differs season to season to fit the team we have. Its all about playing to each teams strengths. If we had a team full of Hourihane type players, it'd be different to a team of Chris Morgan types. The best managers adapt. Cloughie said football isnt designed to be played in the clouds. Which is true to an extent, if you have the money to buy the players to fit that philosophy. If you can only afford lump it players though, youll quickly be forced to play tactics. Not pretty, but it got Cardiff promoted. And of course you have to know where the goal is.
My point is adapting is what seperates an average manager from a good one. Stendel needs to be tested on this (that isnt a dig btw, i just want to know if he has plan B's, which felled PH in the end).
