In all my years watching football, I've never heard such sustained noise from a football crowd as there is in this game. Quite a number of Iranian females in team colours in the crowd. Absolutely gobsmacked to be told that women are not allowed to attend male football matches in Iran. Talk about living in the dark ages.!
I take it you must've missed the world cup when it was in South Africa, then? Would love Iran to get something from this!
Really enjoying this. Would love it if Iran scraped a last minute winner after soaking up the pressure.
Spain really have to win. There is no guarantee that they will win against Morocco who played really well against Portugal.
I’l say this for Iran they look more capable than Tunisia did now that they’re having to go looking for a goal. VAR just cost them a goal correctly so
If that had been England and we’d only managed a 1-0 against Iran, the reaction of this board would have exploded the internet.
See also: Morocco earlier and vs Iran, Egypt vs Uruguay, Tunisia vs England. These Arab sides are all half decent (bar Saudi Arabia), but not one of them can finish their chances. Incredibly frustrating to watch them do so well against the bigger sides but waste golden opportunities again and again. I probably wouldn't be as bothered if I'd not watched barnsley do exactly the same for most of last season.
Sorry Iran lost after all their effort, however class won in the end. Lived there in two spells in the 60s and 70s, before the religious nutters took over. The girls in Tehran were absolute stunners and very friendly. One thing I always appreciated was learning to ski whilst in the country, saving me considerable sums from tuition in Europe.
Only watched the last 20 minutes or so because I was playing but guaranteed the best thing about the game has got to be that 93rd minute throw in hahaha
