Blackpool went to the system that,Fulham used against us this year, thankfully without the quality to make use of all the balls they managed to get in behind us, hopefully with Fulham up next and us having 90 minutes practice in playing against it this week, it may be a strange blessing in disguise this F A cup draw and help us perform better next week Shows all these people who say systems do not matter, they do and sometimes we may need to change ours to match or defeat the other team ,because 3 5 2 against a conventional 4 4 2 will always choke the midfield if the pressing is right by the team playing 3 5 2
No system is perfect. If 3-5-2 gives them the upper hand in midfield then it also weakens their defence giving us more chances as shown by the 17 shots we had yesterday. And let's not forget that Fulham played a third of the game with a man advantage and yet still only managed 6 shots on target in the entire game for all their possession. The problem was that Adam Davies had a shocker and gifted them the upper hand. These things happen
According to "Minority Report - Fulham", the away side played 4-3-3. In essence, the problem was that Scott Parker controlled that game from a position between their defensive line and the midfield line, and we never took steps to close him down. I did not go to Blackpool, but in his after the match comments, their manager says he says they used 3-5-2. Perhaps you are thinking of a different game as comparison, because 3-5-2 has been used against us at Oakwell, but I cannot remember which team used it.
3 5 2 .kills us again, Fulham could have had 10, we got to start playing systems that combat 3 5 2, Fulham had 7 in the box at times, over run everywhere .all the lads tried ,but dont anyone ever say systems dont matter, made Hourihane look like a Sunday league clogger
