Or was that the day we sold Pinnock for a song? What a truly appalling season this one has turned into. Absolute sh*te bag of a season.
It wasn't selling Pinnock and Lindsay that did us. It was replacing them with Pillock and Flimsy. Now Pillock is suspended indefinitely, we've brought Michael Pisspouer in, who tackles in a different time zone to the opposition's runners. No one day has relegated us but two transfer windows of much bluster and little substance have left us with much work to do and without the equipment to do it.
We knew the writing was on the wall from pretty much the start of the season. Defensively so poor there's simply no way you can survive at this level. I don't actually blame the players. I'm sure they're doing their best. But they would not get a game at any other football league club let alone championship. To me it looks like the owners have lost interest. I consider them 100-percent to blame for what's happened this season.
Not mathematically, but we all know the writings on the wall. How many adrift are we? 7? We need to win more than half of our remaining games. It’s not happening.
I agree that defensively we are very poor and it has been obvious that we lack experience and quality at the back but how many times is our final ball poor or we don't finish good chances?? It has been a poor season all round and what's worrying to me is that we are now shunting the proven league 1 players from last season out for ones that aren't proving to be any better.
We were unofficially relegated today. I posted in a thread before today’s game that it was must win or we were down. If you look at it logically Stoke are 7 points ahead of us & Huddersfield are 8 ahead of us but both have shown good form since changing managers & have much stronger teams & squads than us so we aren’t catching either. The team that we could realistically catch were Charlton. If we won we’d be 3 points behind & if we drew we’d be 6 points behind & still have a small chance. Instead we lost & are now 9 points behind. Even if you’re incredibly optimistic & say that we’ll take half the points available from our remaining 16 games so 24 points out of a possible 48 you’re then relying on Charlton to take less than a third of the points available, so 14 or 15 (dependant on goal difference) from a possible 48. That’s just not realistic. We’re going to have to produce play off form when we’re actually weaker in defence now than we were a month ago.
Yes everyone else at the bottom end seems to have gone out and brought in experienced players at this level to help them......we on the other hand decided not to....probably due to not being able to afford it.
Does anyone realistically think we will stay up ? I’m sure even the happiest of happy clappers can’t convince themselves
Yes we’re down. Can we start to give 45 mins to players of promise those that we will need next year. Styles , Simoes, the new under 23 from Scotland.
When we beat Huddersfield I had sobe hope, not any longer I'm afraid. We just had to beat the teams around us.
