the barstewards have got their lucky ref James Linington has been confirmed as the referee for Sheffield Wednesday's South Yorkshire derby with Barnsley this weekend. Newport-based Linington has taken charge of seven matches this season, dishing out 11 bookings and zero red cards. It will be the first time he has officiated an Owls fixture since their 4-0 thumping of Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in December 2019. In fact, Wednesday have won the last four matches when Linington has been the man in the middle. He oversaw their 4-1 demolition job over Middlesbrough last year and also refereed their opening-day triumph at Reading, although he sent goalkeeper Keiren Westwood off after a foul outside the penalty area.
We get this ref all the time. We had him four times last season in order losing 2-1 at Huddersfield, winning 3-1 at Crewe, winning 3-0 at Fulham and losing 2-0 home to Cardiff. Our bookings were Mowatt at Huddersfield, Jordan Williams and Diaby at Crewe, Halme at Fulham and he booked nobody for either side home to Cardiff.
Just accidentally nobble him shortly after kick off. Studs nice & hard on his foot. Refs fall like sacks of spuds..
As we are listing all the bad refs we have had above how about suggesting someone who was actually half decent. He might not be perfect but I always thought Graham (cant count to 3) Poll was generally pretty decent
G.B Frankland. He was another ******. I remember him chalking a good goal off by Peter Sand against Birmingham City in 2001 and then them going down the other end and scoring in a 1-3 defeat.
Soccerbase is showing his last ever match he reffed was us getting tonked https://www.soccerbase.com/referees/referee.sd?referee_id=143 That is a line up to give us nightmares.
I fear tomorrows referee will be a certain B Bannan from Sheffield. The wee mardy **** will be whinging the whole game and by doing so will be refereeing by proxy.
