    Absolutely ****.

Compare the pundits last night to Lineker, Lampard, Ferdinand and Shearer, and it’s not even close.

Intelligent, modest and articulate on one side.

Childish, ignorant, arrogant and unintelligible on the other.

Also I genuinely almost turned it off when they brought Piers Morgan on to plug his show following the game.

Sums up any commercial tv station really. I hate it when they build up to just before kick off and then cut to the adverts. I can’t remember the last time I watched a programme live that is punctuated by five minute advert breaks. The Virgin video box is ideal for that. Record and fast forward, every time

The BBC is a target for all sorts of critiscism, (occasionally it is justified), The quality of it's output is way ahead of commercial stations. Only Channel 4 news gives it a run for money on news, although Newsnight comes close even there.

It’s worth the license fee for Storyville alone.

So true JP. Most of the criticism is unjust and just based on completely unfounded political bias. I'm not a huge fan of the license fee but if ITV is the benchmark for not paying a fee then I'll happily continue paying it.

Thick walls in these Georgian Harrogate properties :). I might be the only football fan in the entire row as well. Never seen any flags or football shirts on any of the neighbours.

It's also a good thing to record England games for the fast forwarding option. Last night was a prime example of "can't stand watching every minute of this tripe".

Just go to Betty's Tea Room. There is a new revolution going on down there. The universe is about to be overturned by a pineapple upside down cake.

I think a lot of criticism of the BBC is warranted (and also that a lot isn't) but their coverage of the world cup has been light years ahead of itv.

Ive no problem with the ads before kick off, I'd prefer that one han paying 150 quid a year. It's just the general amateurish coverage I dislike.

I still feel that Lineker and Co could be sat in a studio in Manchester and save us a fortune though

I don't mind him, but most of the co-commentators are really irritating. None worse than the guy who they recently got rid of - but to replace him with ruddy Glen Hoddle.

BBC have always done ITV with their coverage. Odd really with the amount of money involved in ITV.

I agree, but at least Itv don't have that awful high pitched bird Vickie Sparks commentating for them. :D

But seriously in the Bbc or Itv argument, Ive always preferred the Beeb and adverts on Itv really pee me off here. What the hell is the point in them going to ads in the 2 minutes between the post anthems, and the kick off ?. This is a stupid time for ads, and its why I will always prefer the Beeb.

It's the time that the most people are watching.

Really not difficult to grasp. It's literally the opposite of a stupid time.
