Now he's back in full training do you think he should get back in at centre half. I do before his injury I thought he was one of our better players.
I was looking forward to him coming back and partnering Lindsay as a long term partnership. However I would be just as happy with him partnering Pinnock after his impressive showings. Or ......... He works his way back and waits for his chance, and makes a better fist of it then Angus (that's no disrespect to Angus, but he has hardly set the world on fire since returning). We have good prospects at CB ....... and not a lot of experience.
I'd like to see Jackson and Pinnock be given a run of games together. Sometimes think Lindsay looks a little bit sluggish.
Someone I spoke to also mentioned this.. we got very attacking full backs in mccarthy and yiadom so why not play 3 and let full backs create the width maybe.. but what do i know. Im not a manager lol
I've wanted us to try this for the past 3 months ! Only issue with us doing this is where does Hammill and Isgrove fit in ?
What do you do with Izzy and Hammill? Can`t play wing backs and wingers and don`t see either of the above being defensively -minded enough to play wing-back.
I believe isgrove could even fit behind strikers.. His goal vs burton he ran diagonally across centre of pitch to score.. as for hammill, no idea. Guess when u only have 2 fit wingers then atleast one has to be dropped depending on what sort of system u use.
I think it’s likely to be Lindsay plus one at the moment. He’s not been in the greatest of form for a month or so but he has an ability to pass and/or run out with the ball more than the others, I don’t see him being left out of the team as he’s the best equipped in that role. Pinnock is the man in possession of the shirt. Jackson will have to bide his time, hopefully when his chance comes he’ll grab it. I’m not sure Pinnock and Jackson would work as a two, they have a similar approach, more yin and yin than yin and yang. From what I hear MacDonald hasn’t been too well. Not necessarily physically. Maybe a bit of mental fatigue or anxiety/stress. Horrible thing to have if so, let’s hope he’s got through it. So if he has had treatment/assistance and is now feeling better, we might well get him back in form. I’d be happy with those four to choose from.
I should add that hammill seems to have a bit more work ethnic about him this year especially when tracking back so maybe he could yet mould in to a wing back of sorts but for me maybe a few games dropped for a new system wouldnt be such a bad thing. Hammill isnt exactly the shining light in this team this year
Good Cb from what ive seen but passing is way off even by a CB's standard. Ive seen him pull off 3 diagnal passes this season at home and they all ended in reciever being offside sadly lol
3-4-3 perhaps? Bit like Chelsea did last year with Hammill and Isgrove a bit narrower. Pinnock Jackson Lyndsay Cavare Williams Gardner Yiadom Hammill Thiam Isgrove
I like the look of that side. Again an issue is Moore and Bradders being on the bench much rather we went with a 3-5-2 instead. Davies Jackson --- Pinnock --- Lindsay Cavare --- Williams --- Gardner --- Yiadom Moncur or Mallan Bradshaw or Thiam --- Moore That then leaves to occupy the bench :- Townsend McCarthy, MacDonald, Pearson, Fryers Hammill, Potts, Mallan / Moncur, Isgrove, Hedges Bradshaw / Thiam
I feel any of these systems would work but tbh i think 3-5-2 is my preferred just cos id like to see the thiam and moore combo and mallan getting a run out would be a bonus. Think it would be a good attacking line up.
Of all the variations I think I like this one the best but with Moore to start instead of Thiam for now
