Some really awful numbers coming out of the last few days of redundancies. Probably even more to come as the furlough scheme is stripped back. The real damage is yet to be felt I think from all this.
So the thousands who have died thus far (and the thousands that would have died with no lockdown) are secondary to the 'real damage' allegedly coming up?
Bit harsh that response, I don't think the OP meant it that way. I think he just meant there is a lot more economic pain to come.
That's exactly what I was suggesting, the real economic damage is yet to be felt but the early signs are terrible.
Just in time to sanction people again as of today for not applying for enough of the non existent jobs out there. I don't understand why someone would choose to go in to politics not to help people but to actually try and intimidate and bully people. On reduced transport parents will have to take their kids with them who aren't back at school yet. Those terrified with health issues shielding will be back there soon too. Over 80% of JC staff in the poll don't feel safe. They should be allowed to continue to work from home instead of dealing with dozens of people a day in face to face chats. https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/en...warns-union_uk_5efb8c11c5b6acab2848016f?ncid=
Spot on, Politicians, (largely Tory) have no idea about the masses of people all around the country, but particularly in poorer areas, and they don’t care a jot. Just keep hoodwinking them at Poll time. As for Govt employees get ready, Cummins and Cronies are coming
There is work out there if you are willing to graft. Always will be. And if you dont feel safe going into the office in whats a face to face role... how long do you expect to be paid before the golden handshake?
WTF, what golden handshake, you haven’t a feckin clue what Job Centre staff have to go through on daily basis, let alone through this crisis. Been reading the Telegraph have you with their attacks on the Civil Service
11k got a ticket to the dance in just the last 2 days in just 2 industries as a result of the lockdown strategy. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/business-53247787
I was speaking generally, they wont be the only people in the same boat. At some point a lot of people who are scared/fearful however you want to describe it will be given a choice, either come back to the office in our Covid Secure environment or goodbye. Heres your ticket to the Dance. Will you either in the public or private sector pay someone who refuses to return to the office even on a part time basis until they consider it safe?
I can see why you think that, as the BBC like to say it. Pandemic didn’t stop businesses trading, did it?
Why would anyone working in an office ever need to go back to one*? Offices are part of the past, like workhouses, only some business leaders haven't realised yet *The only people who should ever need to go back to an office are those who do face-to-face meetings with customers. The majority of office-workers don't and can work much more efficiently from home.
Yeah many businesses including mine have taken the opportunity to revaluate. We are closing lots of offices and many myself included will work from home.
