Stones waiting for Everton Offer? http://www.wigan.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20589&posts=8 Scroll to bottom. Good move Stonesey (if true) ... Sign for Everton, finish the season here.
Anyone considered there may be a £3m release clause? Apologies if already suggested, but there's too many threads to check through. It occurred to me the other day when I heard Flitcroft actually refer to a £3m valuation, that it seemed odd to put a cap on a players value so close to the deadline. Maybe the reason is that IS the cap? It would hardly surprise me to hear the club had negotiated such a clause. For what it's worth, I'm with the majority here. No need to sell, we need him for the run in, and his value is only likely to increase between now and the summer, regardless of whether we get relegated. if we're allowing this to happen without our hands tied, then we're daft.
Re: Anyone considered there may be a £3m release clause? He's come from the academy so would have thought not.
Re: Anyone considered there may be a £3m release clause? It's only 6 months or so since they extended his contract though innit?
Re: Stones waiting for Everton Offer? If Everton make an offer we should say Wigan have offered £4million and we won't accept anything below that
Re: Stones waiting for Everton Offer? "Nixon just tweeted that he isn't interested in talking to wigan, waiting for an Everton offer"
Re: Stones waiting for Everton Offer? Wouldn't begrudge him a move to Everton, would be very thick of him to go to Wigan, though. Be missed either way, sorry state of affairs when even local lads want away from our club at the first sniff of interest.
Re: Stones waiting for Everton Offer? Someone with a mixed record of predicting Wigan signings apparently.
Re: Stones waiting for Everton Offer? He's a journo who works for the Mirror but I believe he has some ties to Wigan. Seems reliable-ish.
Re: Stones waiting for Everton Offer? If we have accepted 3 million off Wigan with no loan back, I see no reason why Everton would allow us to add in a loan back. It wouldn't make sense to Moyes when he would know he wouldn't have to make it.
Re: Stones waiting for Everton Offer? Entirely depends if Moyes see's Stones as an Everton player now, or one for the future. If he doesn't think he's going to get a game then he might be more than happy to allow the lad to stay here for the rest of the season.
Re: Stones waiting for Everton Offer? edit: a quick looks suggests Everton aren't short on right backs.
Re: Stones waiting for Everton Offer? Coleman and Hibbert and injured now. They've had to play Neville and Jagielka out of position. So I guess it depends on if Moyes is happy playing Heitinga at centre half and keeping Jagielka at RB who had a decent game there yesterday. He may still want Stones as cover but I reckon any loan deal would have the option of a recall.
Re: Stones waiting for Everton Offer? Which makes it even more stupid a decision to accept Wigan's bid of £3M without opening up an auction.
Re: @GlillisAgent is Stonesy's agent on twitter I think a lot of the younger players are under the management of star management. There going to be very important in the next couple of seasons.
