I live next door to James Bree's uncle. Understand he has returned to Aston Villa after his loan to Luton expired. Can't see Villa hanging on to him though.
If we aren’t getting Ludewig back I’d love us to go in for James Bree. I think he may be above our price range but he can’t have that long left on his contract there can he?
I personally would love to see him back at Oakwell , I think he has a point to prove & could still develop into a very good player
I never thought he was anything special, and was surprised Villa came in for him. I expect his wages would pay for half our starting XI.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38743130 Signed for 3 and a half years, so he's one season left.
Should bring the transfer fee down a bit then. Not sure what sort of wages he’ll be on though, probably too much.
20k a week is what Bree’s supposedly on. Can’t imagine anyone will be buying him this summer on them kind of wages. He’ll probably have another loan spell with his wages partly paid & leave on a free next summer. Would’ve taken Clark as a squad players under normal circumstances but we’ve got a lot of attack minded midfielders
My thoughts too regarding Bree , Luton had him on loan last season & I feel if they could afford him, then we must be on a similar budget & a loan deal might be within our reach , he left on good terms & considering everything between Villa & ourselves appeared to be harmonious after the Hourihane & Bree deals , then we might be in with a shout
I voted for Bree as player of the season for Luton. Brilliant at dead balls, corners, free kicks and never wastes any which is rare. Always in the danger area
I'd take Bree back in a heartbeat. Still only 22. Unlikely he'll get another contract on anywhere near what he's on at Villa, unless he goes somewhere on loan and has an absolutely outstanding season. But if he's been sensible with his money, around half a million quid a year at Villa after tax, he'll be pretty much set. So even if his next contract is "only" £6-£8k a week, he's hardly going to be starving. By the way Pelly, how's he been on the injury front? He used to be quite injury prone when he was with us, but a lot of people just put that down to his age.
He would be an outstanding signing for any championship club. I think wages would rule most out though unless he was available on loan with Villa lying a significant proportion.
Luton are supposedly close to signing Kayden Jackson. Is it a prerequisite of playing fir Luton now, that you have to have played for Barnsley first?
