As the main day is approaching fast it’s looking unlikely we’ll fully come out of lockdown due to this new variant........when are we going to actually lift all restrictions and go back to normality? If we’re waiting for zero cases then we’ll be waiting a lifetime, this last 18 months has hit everyone in some way but surely people deserve some hope and something to look forward to.......it’s as if times been frozen

It's got to end completely, it just has to. Living under restrictions isn't living and is doing far more harm than good.

The problem is that a lot of self centred people are unable or refuse to see the restrictions that are still in place because they largely don't affect them

We need old normal life and let the NHS get on with the five million waiting list which is overwhelming them that covid is not. Sadly with every new excuse more and more will start thinking it's never coming back.

I'd say ease lockdown restrictions when all or the vast majority of over 16s have had at least one jab.
At that moment I would also ban all over sea holidays until the end of the year with an additional ban on visitors from overseas for 2 to 3 months.
Let's just get on with our lives then just as we do with flu. Even though we have a flu jab people still die which we all accept. It's life.

There will always be a new variant of the virus prevalent at any given time so there can always be an excuse to avoid returning to some kind of normality. This is how viruses work. The number of infections is not the problem it’s hospitalisations and deaths that should be the defining factor. Both these show only a minimal rise, mainly in the hotspot areas where uptake of the vaccine has been low.
I personally fear that June 21st will be delayed by a couple of weeks but how long do we keep this going....?
Somewhere along the line we have to live with this virus and give people the responsibility to make their own decisions on how they want to live.

A think last weeks travel announcement has done me......they wanted us to stop in, we stopped in, they wanted us to get a vaccine, we got a vaccine......what more do they want from us!! They asked the public to help which by in large we did then they failed to halt flights from a country absolutely riddled with the Fuking thing for weeks then ow and behold......we have a spike in cases!!!

I’ve tried to see reason with the government but serious questions must be asked and answered!!

If things aren’t fully open by the end of summer a think people will literally just do as they please

Spot on.......if basic things like mask wearing in close confined spaces is required and sanitizer stations still on every post then I’m fine with that, a think if out this last 18 months have made more people conscious about hygiene etc but it’s surly how got fo be down to the public to gain some freedom back

They will always find an excuse to prolong this.

Wales want hard restrictions for another 6 months.

There’s a thread already on this. We’ve just got people repeating the exact same opinions and thoughts.

Tempted to merge and keep the discussion in there.

Its like the cans being constantly kicked down the road now, the experts said weeks ago that cases would rise but if hospitalisations and death rates stayed stable we would be fine, well alls well regarding hospitalisations and deaths but yet again they back track, they are talking of a 2 week delay but i reckon the delay will be open ended and will go on unfortunately....

The vulnerable are vaccinated. The vast majoirty with two jabs.

That was what the road map was designed to protect and it is doing.

Now they want kids to line up for it.

    Where does it stop? Babies?

    In the last week I’ve:
-been and worked at my office
-been to 5 pubs inside yorkshire 2 outside in the boiling sun with a huge group 3 inside
-been and eaten in 2 restaurants
    -been indoor bouldering
-been round 2 friends houses inside
    -been to the cinema
-am just about to go to a big friends bbq
-been to 3 cafes with clients

Maybe these weirdos obsessed with how they’re ‘not free to live under these current draconian measures’ forgot that they didn’t do much before the measures.

Or maybe you're only seeing it from your self centred point of view and as such are unable to see the effect the restrictions have on others.
Around 70 businesses I know who opened in may and had to close again as the restrictions make their businesses unviable.

I went to McDonald's the other day to eat inside, it was the most uncomfortable horrible experience I've had for a long time. Having to go up to a security guard and justify your reason for being there, being watched like a hawk whilst signing in on track and trace, made to stand in an exact position and then marched through the 'restaurant' direct to your seat. Told to order using the touch screen board in the entrance only but to only go to order when the entrance is clear meaning you are sat, mask on, waiting with employee for the other customer to finish before again being marched to the entrance, watched as you order and marched back. The second the last bit of food is swallowed 'are you done, we can't have people in here when they're finished' marched back out and to the car.

For anyone with any kind of anxiety the increased attention that is given to your every movement is debilitating.

So you've eaten out and seen a film.

Thats nice, but there are still severe restrictions in place.

As I’ve said on previous posts I never followed the totalitarian lockdown last year and have continued to live a normal life well as normal as possible.. I won’t be having the vaccine I’m not an anti vaxxer or anything I’m 30 years old relatively fit and healthy so I won’t be having it I’m sure it’ll become mandatory at some point but until then I will observe my right to choose.

Also the scare mongering of the media is laughable here’s a bit of advice for you all stop watching the news stop reading the newspapers and just go about your life.. life is for living the ppl that are obsessed with lockdowns leave them to it in their sad existence..
