Well, I live in that London. They all think the country is ******. And they blame on Corbyn and Starmer.

    I’ve had enough.

Keep your friends close. Keep your enemies closer.

I try to understand what goes on in their mind.

It's Attlee's fault. Him and his NHS-creating communists. And they gave India away! Nobs!!

Actually, Mr Finn makes a good point. They are my friends - nice, kind, generous and seemingly normal. Until it comes to politics. Then I’m on my own. ‘Labour’ is seen in much the same way as ‘foreigners’ Down here I suppose I am.

There isn't one or at least they couldn't explain it. Down here Labour means communism. Pathetic. There is no way any of them would vote Labour even if the Labour leader had the most sensible visionary policies ever.

My old dad had an old rule of thumb , " when your having a beer never discuss politics or religion , both are a recipe for an argument " & to be fair he was not wrong & thats why I stick to the golden rule of keeping my thoughts on both subjects to myself , sound advice that works for me but obviously not for the masses :)

Sound advice MrRed CB. I try not to. But when you are surrounded by others that do, you feel like the bear being baited.

My son and his partner live in that there London. Don’t worry you’re not alone. :)
And according to the polls. 2019
    Londoners voted
    48% Labour
    32% Tory
Your friends are in the minority. Eff em off.

    BTW on Brexit
    Londoners voted overwhelmingly to stay.
    Barnsley to leave.
    Tells me a lot.

I take it they're all Brexiteers as well.
Me personally I would not be seen dead with people like that, to blame Corbyn and Starmer for the mess the country is in when the Torys have been in power since 2010 is beyond me, their brains must be the size of a pea.

tbf they have a point (sort of). Until Labour get themselves sorted out & provide some meaningful, desperately needed, strong opposition they are to blame (partly).
Given the absolute sh*t show that Boris & his cronies are giving us it ought to be a shoe in for Labour

I’ve got a couple of Tory Friends down here in Farnham though at least when I had a beer with them last week they were keen to keep politics out of our discussions. I think we have the wrong Tories in the cabinet or something

This is what really grinds my gears

it makes no difference as to what labour may or may not have done. It's how the Tories operate. I mean 10 years on and still blaming labour .. give over. It's a real load of horse ****.

Tories are in power full stop. And should take the **** full stop. The response of this government on Brexit and Covid is Tory owned. Absolutely no one else.

Yes, Abbott and MacDonald were a bit weird, but a lot of things Corbyn wanted to do was honourable. Shall we say in the mould of "levelling up"....

He burnt is arse because he wouldn't commit to which side of the Brexit fence he Personally was on. And basically blew his chance from then on. Labour won't recover from it, lurched too far to the left. (IMO anyway)

Tories are like the Wigan fans blaming Barnsley for relegation.... Nowt to to with us, was entirely your own owners fault. Kind of scenario

    The end

You must have gotten really unlucky then, I have a few mates in London (most are London born) and every single one of them are Labour and Remainers.

Thats certainly not my experience. The constituency I'm in has a 30,000 labour majority. The councillors in the 15 years I've lived here have either been Labour or Lib Dem.

Most of the biggest majorities for Labour are in London. And Sadiq Khan is London Mayor with a significant majority. Only the liar in chief has broken the Labour stranglehold of the mayors office.

Your friends may take those views, but they don't seem to be particularly representative.

The problem with that is that people become entrenched in their views because nobody points out the flaws in their position. I often get told off for talking politics in a social setting but I still do it.

Thing is, what would meaningful strong opposition be? Serious economic policies? They would need rational thought on the part of folk and now the world’s governed by emotion.

LOVE your country. FEAR the foreigner. HATE anyone who questions our history.

Johnson and his mob have reduced us to this. How you stop it I don’t know.
