Sorry Phil but that is just not right. KP is on a central contract so is handsomely rewarded for doing what he loves and on top of this he is the highest paid player in the IPL. It was Pietersen that retired from limited overs cricket because he wasn't allowed to pick and choose the format of cricket he played in. Another example of his attitude being less that team orientated.

I can't find it but I remember KP retiring from limited overs cricket being discussed on here. As I recall there was almost universal criticism of Pietersen for his attitude then.

he tried to retire from ODI cricket Mario because he thought he was playing a lot of cricket and it was affecting his body. 100 overs in the days a lot.
That meant he had to retire from T/20 cricket and he didn't play any one day cricket in the summer of 2012.

since then he's available to play all matches for England but Andrew Flower have been resting him because he was playing too much.

So Andrew Flower and the ECB made a big deal over it but since they have done the very thing he mentioned.

He tried to retire because the ECB wouldn't let him pick and choose the format of the game he wanted to play. In a nutshell he wanted to cherry pick the best of England alongside the rich pickings of the IPL.

Remember there isn't many players that have played all formats of the game for the last 4/5 years.
