You think we paid him or or paid him any kind of wages worth worrying about? Very minimal transfer fee that was probably recouped. Wages subsidised by Grimsby. Worth a punt but didn't work out. Move on my precious snowflake. Bigger things to worry about than a development squad signing that didn't develop.
I cant disagree with any of that regarding how little money was lost on the deal etc... but it was still a terrible signing as it turned out. Theres still a youtooob video of 'Around town with Kayden Jackson' where hes in the car and talking about the team and the taaarn and thoughts for the new season etc. And he barely played 5 minutes for us did he ?
How is it a terrible signing? Your expectations were higher than that of the club. It's essentially a loan deal to see if a player is good enough, see how he develops, and see if our coaching staff can unearth that diamond. We'll get far, far more wrong than we get right, but as fans our expectation levels are greater than that of the club here. We live in a Social Media world. Content is key seven days a week no matter where it comes from.
No I didnt expect anything from it Loko, which kind of goes along with my 'Expectation levels' thread on here tonight. I rarely expect too much from this team and these players, and thats just the way I am as a person and thats why they pleasantly surprise me most seasons.
Maybe he played for food and board? Precious snowflake? Just a tad cringey that one. Anyway, he's gone so any discussion is moot.
If Jackson does get sold for the £1.25m-£2m that is being banded about on twitter then think you’ve been proved right. We took a lad for free from Wrexham, probably haven’t paid him all that much, had a look at him over a season (on loan at Grimsby), sold him to Accrington (undisclosed but imagine it would have covered any minimal investment we had made in him) and Now potentially stand to make 35% of whatever he is sold for (£430k-£700k). Not a bad little earner that one. Good for us, good for Kayden contributing to 30 goals in a season is no mean feat in your second professional year, good for Accrington making significant profit. Be good to see what he can do & hope the transfer goes through.
Hi Conan. From his ‘record’ is he still clearly not worth £1? Love you. Only kidding before you get all angry and call me a lovely person. Which I am.
16 goals for a 1 in 3 record..... http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=71294&season_id=150
Scored 16 and 15 assists. He’s more than just a goal scorer. There’s a reason why lots of champ teams wanted to sign him. My point was some of our fans judged a lad who never kicked a ball in a competitive game. One in particular thought if we spent £1 on him it was £1 too much. Personally think it was right to let him go get regular football. He developed. We made a very very tidy profit.
