I'm sickened by constantly reading that our players are going to be cherry picked again and again. If they want to go, then let them go, we dont want them but if we take the guts out of the team just for profit and think we can rebuild again from our academy then I think my nerves wont be able to take it anymore.
I'm sure we will.keep the players we need for the championship. If we are in keague 1 we will have no choice but to rebuild as our championship rated players will no doubt leave
if a player wants to leave because he feels he cant improve anymore here with d.s. then let him go as he's only taking a squad number up for someone who can/will improve and be an asset for us
Quite simple. Best players are waiting to see what division we are in. Better wages would/should be on offer if we get promoted. If we can’t match what’s on offer elsewhere. Then they’ll probably leave. Don’t think they’ll be allowed to run their contracts down if offers come in. That’s acceptable to both the club and the players. Players hold most of the cards nowadays.
This is perhaps correct but holding on to championship player close to end of contract when double maybe treble salaries on offer isnt easy. For sure we will see departures if we stay in L1
We will probley see players leave if we go up. Conway said in a interview if a player wants to leave and won't sign a new deal we won't stand in their way if a offer comes in we consider acceptable. So if we go up for example Lindsay/pinnock won't sign a new deal a big championship team comes for them we will accept and they will be gone.
We understand the philosophy of the board, which means that players will be allowed to leave, ideally within contract, so that the club makes a profit on them. The skill of the board will be to ensure a) that the squad's contracts do not all terminate at the same time, so that an even flow of players in and out happens and b) that we have already identified targets for either the Championship, or League One and will move straight away to bring these in as soon as the season is ended and we know which division we will be in. I think that we will have learned from past mistakes, but it will be annoying if we find ourselves in the play-offs, as we will not be able to recruit some players until we know which division we will be in. I do so hope for automatic - it will simplify a lot. it would also mean that we should be able to offer improved contracts to some players already in the squad. let's not make the mistakes we made with the likes of Josh Scowen and keep them on League One wages in the Championship. I hope we have learned this lesson.
If we fail to go up we will have to sell several players and for sure we will lose Davies as I expect there will be interest for him from the Championship Players most at risk will be Pinnock Lindsay Woodrow and Mowatt in my view -its possible we can hang on to Mowatt as he is clearly enjoying his football again and maybe Woodrow as he has a long contract but I would be surprised if we kept either centre half - I think we could keep enough of the squad to mount a serious promotion push again next year. If we go up its vital we keep all the names I mentioned but we will need to strengthen in some areas as I dont think the current squad would perform as well as the last promotion squad did pre fire sale - I dont think we would be bottom 3 but definitely bottom third so cant afford to sell any of our key players
Is there going to be outrage against the club every time there is a story of another club being interested in any of our players?
Even if/when we go up there will still be a raft of departures, I'd say 50% of the squad wouldn't cut it in the Championship, unfortunately. The Barnsley squad of today will look massively different to the one that starts the next season, whatever division that is.
I share your view, Farnham As reported by Gally from the February forum: "Nice creates an opportunity for Barnsley because we believe some that some players at Nice in a promoted Barnsley team either permanent/loan or loan + option could be smart." So our management appear to be on the case with plans to close the gap.
The best way to keep hold of our best players is for the board of directors to increase sponsorship deals so we don't have to weaken our team to stay in the black, which means us the fans suffer the most. This summer is a big chance for the board to make the club a lot of money by announcing new big money deals so that money boosts the coffers enough that we can offer players new contracts on better wages than we would have been able to without said deals.
No promotion and I expect the following departures Mowett Pinnock Lindsay Davies Brown Woodrow And possibly Cavare Thiam Stendel So, most of the best team we’ve had in donkeys and the most inspiring manager since Alan Clarke part one.
