We could have done with him playing sooner than today...... What a difference he made, but he's 26 so can't be far off being sold for being too old. It's not ideal him playing three 90 minutes in a week after so long out, but we haven't got options to say rest him on Tuesday and bring him back at Huddersfield.
He is the experience we already have, but for goodness sake don't tell PC else he'll be sold or sacked. Change his date of birth on his birth certificate to make him 19 or summat.
Makes you wonder what stendel had in is thaught about dougell or what team he wanted goes 2 show stendel may have got tactics wrong??
Seems to be. But players always want to play and say they're ready (ones that care anyway) but all too often they get injured again because they do come back too soon. I've no problem with Dougall wanting to play and saying so and I've no problem with a manager holding the player back until he believes the time was right. We employ head coaches for a reason. If we let the players make the decisions they'd all be up front, would never track back, and never pass to anyone.
Dougal had 2 spells out the side last season due to injury. We ve missed him but was he fully fit a month ago?
Played as though he was but got what looked like cramp at the end. Maybe he needed to have been subbed off sooner.
Yes but perhaps Stendel wanted to make sure he was 200% ready for whatever reason. The Way he put himself around the pitch today showed that he’s been ready for a while. We all know, having played the beautiful game, when you’re ready to come back and he’s saying he was.
Obviously didn’t play like he was if he got subbed off. There’s no way Kenny or Bambo was fit enough to play 90 mins of championship football, otherwise Daniel would’ve played them. It is evident today Bambo wasn’t fit, and it’s obvious Kenny wasn’t because he’s a huge miss to that midfield.
Good comeback today. We’ve not got a brilliant midfield to chose from but those three that started today would be my choice. Feel free to bump when WBA put 7 past us..........again!
Listen to the interview and he doesn't sound so critical . Weird how careful they're all being not to say Stendels name!
A holding midfielder was not part of Stendel's tactics so KD was probably fit, but Stendel just didn't want to play him. Stuff always comes out of the woodwork once a gaffer goes. Stendel blew hot and cold with Cavare, apparently kept Dougall out of the team, persisted with Williams at right-back when everyone and their mother could see he wasn't ready and also persisted with gung-ho tactics which left us exposed time and time again. If I didn't know better the cynic in me would think Stendel got the munk on and stuck with these tactics knowing full well that we would be steamrollered to prove a point to the board after his personal preferences regarding signings never materialised, perhaps that was why the board was as short with the statement as they were? I don't know but slowly but surely, little things are coming to light that shine another light onto events imo.
Dougal by his own admission was only declared fit a month ago. Two weeks of that were international break. Reasonable for any coach to have him start back in the u23s to assess his fitness surely? He played him when available last season.
Your second paragraph says what I've been thinking for a few weeks. DS knew the type of players he wanted, was told he'd not get them and resolved to show how bad things could really get. In the end he was a dead man walking and in my opinion knew exactly what he was doing. The problem is that we fans were incidental in this drama, nobody at the club really cared about us while their internal wranglings were being played out.
