Mentions us briefly in a interview on the Leicester website.... https://www.lcfc.com/news/2288452/former-player-remembers-larry-may/featured Our biggest ever fee and when we sold him on we made a profit. Loved his time with us
Decent player, benefited hugely from playing alongside The Master of centre backs , Paul Futcher. To be fair anyone benefited from playing alongside Futch, he read the game so well and had so much time.
I agree. If Carl Tiler hadn't played alongside Futch I don't reckon he'd have played for England U21s and earned a big money move.
The story at the time was that he wept tears when he was first told he couldn't go to Weds. True or not ?
When he came to Barnsley he was introduced to the fans before a game he then signed his contract on the pitch, desk, chair n'orl.
larry may from the half way line - didn't he used to wait on the half way line for corners then time his run into the box? Thought I had a memory of him scoring v swfc on a night game but I reckon that was the league cup game where he came back to play against us? Dunno - I don't think id been going long then.
Top class centre half in his own right, irrespective of his partnership with Paul Futcher. At the start of the 1986/87 season, we started off the campaign with six losses. However, despite that, May still made it into the Division 2 PFA Team of the Year.
