Saw him live at Sheffield City Hall. Absolutely brilliant show. His guest was also very good re- Dave Edmunds who had a hit with " I hear you knocking" in the 70's.
Probably some of the best live TV performances over the years - this always mesmerizes me:- I know they're not everyone's cup of tea but the way that comes together musically, as someone who can pick up a guitar, it makes me feel like a monkey who's been handed a piano,
Cant understand why folk knock him. Seems a genuinely warm bloke, no shortage of musicians queuing up to be on show and treats the unheard ofs with the same respect as the superstars. His piano solo on The The's Certain Smile must be one of the most under-rated things in brit pop (a decade before anybody else even used the phrase)
Saw Dave Edmunds Rockpile with Nick Lowe back in the day...Lew Lewis Reformer as the support, what a show
Saw Dave Edmunds at the Lyceum in Sheffield many years ago. Wasn't his Rockpile band though. A bizarre setting in an old fashioned theatre surrounded by opera boxes.
Top bloke, great musician, brilliant guests, but one of the worst interviewers on tv. Just painfully awkward. I tend to record the show so I can skip through the interview bits because the performances are often unmissable.
Not over keen myself , give me Bob Harris and TOGWT any day . Think that Jools doesn’t have enough heavy rock bands on for me , just a personal preference
Saw these about five or six years ago in the undrground bit of whatever the Shambles was called then. Good value. Tiswas is my favourite
